CalorieKing Partners With Molina Healthcare

CalorieKing to Provide Customized Weight Management Tools for Molina Members

(San Diego, California - June 23, 2008) - CalorieKing, the leading provider of online weight management tools, announces a new partnership with Molina Healthcare, a multi-state managed care organization that arranges for the delivery of healthcare services to persons eligible for Medicaid, Medicare and other government-sponsored programs for low-income families and individuals. Molina Healthcare's New Mexico Health plan will be the first Molina health plan to integrate CalorieKing's weight management program and tools.

"By partnering with CalorieKing, we are now able to provide our members with a popular weight management program," said Martha Bernadett, M.D., Executive Vice President of Research and Development, Molina Healthcare. "And, as our members learn how to successfully use the tools, we will utilize their feedback to make the tools even more effective for our members, many of whom are ethnically diverse and low income."

As a first step, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico is offering a free 12-week CalorieKing Club membership to its Healthier Weight Program members, allowing them to customize a diet plan that is specific to their circumstances. Membership in CalorieKing Club helps individuals increase their understanding of proper nutrition, maintain an active lifestyle and learn behavior modification techniques that support both losing weight and sustaining weight loss. The Club uses a simple and straightforward approach to private, online weight management, focusing on long-term weight management through calorie control - not fad diets.

With Molina's Healthier Weight Program, members receive 24-hour online support, seven days a week, and incentives to help them reach their goals. Even if members do not have access to the Internet, a registered dietician will still be available to speak with them and coach them regarding the program. In addition, they may enroll in the Molina care management program and receive incentives to help them reach their weight loss goals.

The CalorieKing Club has been reviewed by CalorieKing's partner, Joslin Diabetes Center. CalorieKing partnered with Joslin in 2007 to help improve the usefulness of CalorieKing's weight management tools for those seeking to prevent or manage their diabetes. Molina is the first health plan to make the Joslin reviewed CalorieKing program available to plan members. "Our partnership with Molina Healthcare furthers our goal to help combat both diabetes and obesity with weight management understanding," said Keith McGuinness, CEO, CalorieKing. "And as CalorieKing works to develop tools that are more culturally relevant to Latinos and other populations, we believe our partnership with Molina Healthcare will help us to put these new, more useful tools in front of those who need the most and who will use them to improve their personal and family health."
