Veteran Weight-loss Exec to Lead CalorieKing’s Move into U.S. Wellness Market
COSTA MESA, CA – August 1, 2004 :- Keith P. McGuinness, an executive seasoned
in the business of bariatric medicine, has been named president and chief
executive officer of CalorieKing Wellness Solutions, the leading provider of
calorie-centered consumer education materials and tools in the United States.
CalorieKing® is a brand owned by an Australian company, Family Health Network
(FHN), well respected for the perennial best-selling book, The Doctor's Pocket
Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter. FHN recently formed CalorieKing Wellness
Solutions to focus on the growing U.S. market for corporate wellness solutions
that help to contain health care costs.
"Keith brings an extraordinary background and proven track record of success
in the business of weight management. As CalorieKing opens new markets,
combining useful information with helpful technologies to help people achieve
personal health goals, we are confident Keith's industry experience and
business leadership skills will be a great asset," said Aston Borushek, President of FHN.
Previously, McGuinness served as General Manager of Lindora, Inc.'s Internet-
based business, where he designed and ran its "Lean for Life Online" program.
Lindora is the nation's largest medical practice exclusively focused on weight
management; he served as CFO and later as its CIO. A CPA and
PricewaterhouseCoopers alumnus, McGuinness earned a Bachelor of Arts from
Rutgers and Master of Science from Georgetown University. He is a member of
the Disease Management Association of America, and the Wellness Councils of
America, and serves on the Dean's Advisory Board for the Business School at
Concordia University in Irvine, California.
"As individuals, schools, employers, and health care professionals struggle to
discern a simple and useful message about weight management, CalorieKing
products continue to shout politely: 'Calorie management is the key to weight
management'. This is the right message. I look forward to joining CalorieKing
to imbue this message into American consciousness, reversing the obesity trend in one generation," added McGuinness.
