Mickey Manytoes is not setting a good example--he's just lying on my lap, purring. He doesn't even look guilty--even though he should be out hunting mice or something. His figure is starting to tell the tale, however: he's gained about a pound since he came to us from the shelter last fall.
I go to the doctor in about an hour--this visit is the post-op visit to the surgeon. Larry is going to take me because today just isn't my day--I feel like a bug smashed on a car windshield. I can hardly believe it's 2 weeks today since surgery--I would have sworn I'd be chomping at the bit to get going. Instead I feel like a little old lady ready to move into assisted living--jeez, I'm worn out! Just the thought of taking the dishes out of the dishwasher is almost more than I can stand.
I am going to do some pushups today--my muscles work, even if I'm tired. They might be weenie pushups, but pushups they'll be. The pushup challenge is the one thing I can hang my hat on--sort of mindless, but something I need to do everyday.
Phyllis Clark is due to start on dialysis soon. I'm going to have Larry call Don and see if we can't get together--I'd really like to talk too her to find out what her experience is like. Dialysis is likely in my future, and I want to find out as much as I can about it.
Now it's later: I may have turned the corner on this RBC thing. All day I've been so tired I could hardly wiggle. I wasn't really hungry and I felt really drained. Then about 3:30 I started getting hungry; I had a sandwich and fries from McDonalds and now I feel really pretty good. Maybe not exactly like my old self, but pretty darned good. This is what happened before when my red cell count dropped and then came back up.
I hope this thing is for real. If so, I plan to go for a short run tomorrow--I need to get ready for a 5K later this year. I may also go push a little iron around at the gym. If I'm starting to feel good, I'm going to take full advantage of this break in work. RON SHALL NOT WIN!!
