CECILY55's CalorieKing blog

Sunday, Sep 29 2013 - I have not been so good at this blogging stuff

Sheesh, law school is a ton of work. I don't mind the work-work, but the busy work makes me crazy.:barf3: This week we had to go into the library and find books--probably because a lot of my classmates have hardly been in a library (like with books and stuff). What's worse, our TAs are so young they don't even understand how the call numbers work.

Moscow is a weird little town--kind of a cross between Haight-Ashbury in 1968 and BeaverCleaver town. This town is full of wanna be hippies combined who are combined with a large dose of Ward Cleaver.

I wonder if Ward is the mythical "reasonable man." I read an essay on the "reasonable man" as someone who rides the Clapham Omnibus and then goes home to push his lawn mower in his shirt sleeves. Just the teeniest bit dated: how many people actually PUSH their lawn mower anymore?! The "reasonable man" is not only dated, "he" is also sexist and perhaps racist. I mean, really. Have you ever heard of a reasonable woman? Or a reasonable Italian of either gender? Does Charlie Sheen fall into the "reasonable man" mold? He's both white and male, but reasonable?

I don't think I'm losing any weight, but I don't think I'm gaining, either. My clothes fit just about the way they have for the past 6 months. But maybe they've just stretched because I haven't done any laundry in a while.:frog:

I need to invest in a good suit that fits the new (and larger) me. I'll eventually lose weight, but I'm not so sure that's going to happen since my exercise has been mostly limited to lugging ginormous books around and turning pages.:eyebrows:

Midterms in two weeks and the 9th circuit is coming on Tuesday. The next few weeks are going to be insane. But, I'm about 1/3 of the way done with this semester. If I survive with some kind of decent grades, life will be good. And if they aren't so good, I can't really flunk out until the end of next semester.:teeth3:

Well, it's 9 o'clock and my bedtime. My reading is in decent shape for tomorrow -- I just have to catch up on Civil Procedure. I'll do that first thing and then get my Torts brief done when I get to school. I usually get up about 5 and my first class doesn't start until 9:30. That 4+ hours is great -- I'm fresh and accomplish a bunch. But that 2:30 'til 3:45 class is a killer -- by then I'm just about done in!:yawn2:

I'm toast -- I need to hit the old sackaroo.
