Watchu Need?

Sunday, February 24th 2008

I was sitting at the computer last night with my mind on the photo book I'm making, and one ear on each child. E was in her vibrating chair, batting at some hanging toys (at 8 weeks. She's brilliant.) Will was running around. E started to indicate discomfort (she generally doesn't cry unless she's hungry - if she's wanting interaction or needs to burp/fart, she squirms and grunts and waves her arms.) She started to do this. Will goes over to her and says, "O, s'okay, Baby Ellen. Watchu need...

Brief update - more later.

Got back from AZ on Tuesday - had a good time. Lost my digital camera which breaks my heart. I had so many great pictures of Ellen.

Ellen was named after S's sister (Ellen Wood Richards) who died 2 weeks after being born. Part of her brain was missing. My father in law, Noel, said to us as he was holding my Ellen with her tiny hand gripping his finger, "Ellen Wood held my finger just like this while she was being baptized." Part of the "interesting" conversation with Steve was the admitting, by me, out loud, that I do not think there is much of a chance of me suddenly shedding my insecurities. If that's the case, I have to figure out how to be myself now and I have to figure out how to keep my insecurity/ies from hurting my relationships.

So. I lost 7 pounds this week. Uh-huh. :bigeyes3: 7 pounds on someone my height is beyond extreme and I've never EVER lost that amount in one week.

Obviously the scale was either wrong LAST week or I dumped tons of water for some reason. Measurements were down as well, though, so it wasn't completely fluke-y and I'll take it. Even if 3-6 of those pounds are weird water-ness, there is still some progress there. And? Since my milk production was only down by about 1/5th, I can keep with this "new...

Hammers and Lemon Juice

Friday, February 1st 2008

My daughter slept for 5 straight hours last night, followed by another 4 straight hours. This is miraculous. I've never felt so well-rested in my entire life. And I don't think I'm exaggerating. :cool1:

Will had a horrible day yesterday. I started a mental list of things that would be more fun that his whining and tantrums - they included taking a hammer to my fingers, lemon juice on paper cuts, eating liver and lima beans, etc. Steve and I have developed a blank, wide-eyed stare we use with othe...
