Weíre in week three of our chapter-by-chapter review of The Lean Belly Prescription. To recap about the book: The Lean Belly Prescription by Travis Stork, M.D., the young doctor from the TV show The Doctors, and Peter Moore, editor of Men's Health.
Chapter 3 is called Change Your Body, Change Your Life and itís here he starts giving us the insight that itís all connected. He talks about our waistline, our hearts and even our wallets. The Laws of Leanness again takes center stage at the bottom of the first two pages. This time he talks about the integrated picture of health. My favorite this time would be: ďSleeping better helps you lose weight. Losing weight helps you sleep better.Ē Basically, heís telling us all, we have to treat the system as a whole and not just lose the weight.

Again, these short topics bring together the latest in research and how you can apply it to your own life. Each section has 3-4 points it makes to bring home why this is important to you. For example, in the section regarding having a lean belly making one look younger, Dr. Travis goes over just how that happens. He does this with the other areas listed as well. Again, he reinforces the fact that just changing what we eat is not good enough. The changes must affect our whole life through exercise, the constant learning process to have the most up-to-date information for us to decipher and the constant vigilance to make these changes permanent. No one said the journey was going to be easy but rest assured, that with books like this at least it makes a little more sense.
In 10 Second Slimdown, ten separate points touched upon in every chapter. My favorites this time were: 1)Move It Ė It goes over that it doesnít matter what exercise you do, just that you exercise. Basically, it looks like an average of one hour daily will make you join the ranks of those with the leanest abdomen. This one has my endorsement as I started gaining weight the moment I stopped walking. I love to walk but one day, I just didnít and that turned into almost 4 years of days. Now, Iím walking daily again and the weight is coming off.; 2) Snack First Ė In this one, it talks about having a snack before a party or an event. Again, I have to say Iíve started practicing this here as we go to lots of receptions. True, in order to be polite, I do have to eat and drink a little. Itís easier to just take a bit, then set the rest down if you have something already in your stomach.
I would totally recommend this book to anyone as it is practical advice on how to live a healthy life the way you want to live it.
