Hi Everyone,

I just joined CK on a trial basis and am really liking the site so far. For as many wonderful things that I have going on in my life right now, my weight is not one of them. My best friend got engaged in July and is getting married next month right before Christmas and I refuse to let myself be the heaviest I've ever been at her wedding. The hardest part for me is that I was not always heavy growing up, in fact I was very fit and active until high school graduation. After that I entered into a very bad relationship that drained me emotionally and I began eating a lot and not taking care of myself. Six years later I'm so happy with where I am now, I ditched that guy and have a great one now, and I just moved into an apartment by myself. I know I can do this I just need to stay on track and keep focused. I'd love to hear from any of you and maybe find a friend so we can keep each other motivated. Talk to you soon!

:) Heather

Hi Heather, welcome to CK! I'm relatively new as well and, like you, am loving getting to know the site and "meeting people". The support on here is really great and I'm still feeling as motivated as the day I joined.

See you around the boards!!

Hi Heather,

Man, do I know exactly what you mean! I graduated from high school and since I was no longer doing sports, but still eating like I was burning all those calories, and bam... I gained weight like crazy. I also went through a few periods of deep depression, where I was basically sedentary and would binge eat too often. So I am in a similar situation. I was very fit and trim until a couple years ago. Now I want to get back to my old self! I have been away from the site for a while, but I am determined again. :) Look forward to talking with you.

Same, same, same here! I find that reading the posts and looking through the forums frequently helps keep me on track. I've only really been at this for a little over a week (with a bad eating weekend), but so far I've managed to diet for more than 2 days in a row, and I'm proud of myself, lol.

Nice to meet you!

Heather, I can totally relate. I've been at this for about a week and a half and am already down 5 lbs! Finding friends can help, so I'd be more than happy to help keep you on track if you'll do the same for me! Good luck!!

Hi Heather,

I just joined this week! Hope that you're having lots of luck with CK so far. I recently moved into an apartment by myself as well, and while I absolutely love it, I'm finding that it can be hard to keep myself in check sometimes with eating. I'm hoping that this daily diary and reading everyone else's entries will help me. So far, off to a good start!

I completely understand the bridesmaid weight fear!! My friend just got her video back of her wedding, and I had to watch myself for an hour and face seeing myself at my biggest....not to mention the embarrassing dancing! LOL. Although I can't change anything, it's definitely been motivation for me to move forward and make a change. Stick with your goal and I'm sure that you will look beautiful at her wedding!

Hello, fellow 20-somethings!

I just joined tonight to try the 7-day free trial. I'm in a desperate situation now as I am in the enlistment process for the Air Force National Guard and I need to be below a certain weight to pass my physical.

Any helpful hints on using Calorie King for this newbie? Thanks in advance!!!!!

I've been here about a week, too. Welcome. :)

I hope you are all doing well. I have been struggling w/ my weight for a few years, and finally reached a good weight last January. I let myself go in the fall, and gained just 14 pounds, but for some reason I am having the hardest time shedding it! I have not been honest with myself for three monthes about what I was eating. I would do well for about 2-3 days and then forget it for a while. Now, I am on a mission. I just want to lose it and stop obessing over it. WE ARE WORTH IT. Let it be 200 pounds or 2 pounds, we just need to do this b/c we have other things to think about and ENJOY!-
Amandadescending- I love your quotes. I decided to post them next to my bed. The first two encourage me to get up for my morning jog, and the last one just makes me smile. Thank you!

Sarah- What I have found by tracking my food is patterns. I found that my highest calorie intake is after dinner. NOT GOOD. So, instead of fighting it completely, I have compromised w/ myself. I eat much smaller breakfasts and lunches high in protien. This way I am not starving before dinner, but I can have a bigger dinner. This bigger dinner helps me avoid snacking too much around 8 pm. At around 8 pm, I allow myself enough calories for a 100 calorie bag of popcorn (its 3 cups!), and a diet soda. It makes me feel like I am splurging, but I am really not.

Have you learned any helpful tips in your experience? I'd love to hear them if you don't mind sharing! Thanks- Meg

After being a CK member for a couple of months now, I just started looking at these forums. I cannot tell you how much of a help it is to know that there are other people who are going though the exact same things as me. Now that I am in college and no longer a three season athlete, I can't eat like I did back in High School! Good luck to everyone!
