I am new to the site. I have tried so many different diets as well as tracking my food intake. I pray that this time I will be successful!! I tend to stress eat. If any one else struggles with this, what have you learned to do differently to change this behavior?
Thanks in advance!

It is a struggle.. but don't give up, it's worth it.

I did very well the first couple years, but.... When I started out, I was so heavy that I had no real expectations b/c I didn't think I would be successful (never had before). But then as I hung out in the forums and read conversations about nutrition and exercise, I began wanting to get healthy. As long as my focus was on getting healthy - I did great. I learned all I could and made changes one step at a time - making small goals, focusing on one thing at a time -- first fat intake, then fiber, then protein, etc. the weight loss became a bonus -- kind of my reward for becoming healthy.

THEN when I realized how close I'd gotten to goal, I got in a hurry and changed my focus. I put back on more than a third of the weight and have been struggling ever since. My struggles are because I'm having a hard time getting back on the healthy track. My energy level is down since I put some weight back on, so it takes what feels like a lot of effort.

I just know that I'm not giving up. If I give up, failure is guranteed. If I keep trying, I have a chance. Someone once compared it to brushing your teeth -- if you failed to brush your teeth one day, would you get frustrated and give up brushing your teeth ever b/c you failed one day and just know you'll never be as consistent at it as you'd like?

Anyway.... I tend to ramble. Sorry :cross2:

Good luck on your goals :thumbu2:

Porthope welcome!

I have been in a Bible Study called Uncommon Vessels - A Program for Developing Godly Eating Habits - by Elyse Fitzpatrick. I am also reading Love to Eat Hate to Eat Breaking the Bondage of Destructive Eating Habits - same author. The books have really helped me have a new perspective. I am hoping that with CK and these books that I will be able to keep this weight off for good.

Keep logging
If you get off track don't have a all or nothing attitude - just start again with your next meal. It is a learning process. Be nice to yourself!

Those sound like good resorces. It's good to have all the sources of motivation we can.

TGIF! Everyone have a great weekend.

Dee,

Thank you for your motivating kind words!! I am looking forward to reaching our health goals with my newfound Christian friends.

I agree - if you give up, your destination is known. As we continue to try to improve, there is hope to reach our healthy goal that we all want to achieve.

Have a good week!

Thanks for the book suggestions! I will look those up.

The logging does seem to help. The weekly weigh in makes me cringe and sometimes can be discouraging.

Keep sharing what you have gained from your reading! Best wishes....

Hey there! I am new here as well. This will be a great source for me to take advantage of since I work at my computer full time. I know I definately have problems with consistency. I'll do really good for two weeks. I'll track my calories, hit the gym, lose a few pounds... The next week I don't do anything at all and gain the weight back. I also need to stand up to peer pressure and let my friends know that I can't partake in their activities of eating out/ drinking / being sluggy on the weekends. My friends should be in support of my goals. Eating is a huge part of my social life, and I have a very social life. I sold my car and I'm riding my bike everywhere, this will help me burn calories and save money. My biggest thing is not binge eating/spending on foolish things on the weekends and with friends. and CONSISTENCY. This goes with everything in my life. Pray for me to be consistent. Thank you so much !!!!
