Hi everyone!

I am new to CK, but not to type II diabetes, been about 5 years diagnosed. Everything more or less was fine up to about a year ago and then my a1c went from a 5 to a 9, so here I am. I am wondering if anyone has been on byetta and how it has gone for them? Thanks!
Janet

:hi: Hello! I've just started medication, I guess almost a month ago...but not byeta, I'm on metformin. Welcome to CK! :smile1: I think you will find CK to be quite helpful and the forums a good place to find support, and to talk about your experiences with this path we are all on.

That is good news! (about metformin helping with weight loss). I'm a slow loser so any thing that can help is always appreciated!

Loved my byetta and was doing great on the 5mg dose, had already adjusted and gotten over the nausea and barfing bit, when my doc went and decided to move me up to the 10mg dose, bad news! The higher dosage did something to my body that I was not able to keep ANYTHING down. I was taken off the 10mg dose and was off it completely for couple of weeks and we tried to go back to the 5mg dose since it was working but the 10mg dose had sensitized my system and now I can't take it at all. I really loved it, my b/s was totally normal, I had lost 18 lbs in a month and then oopsie!

I weighed all the pros and cons of even trying the drug and decided I could adjust or live with the occasional nausea and it does work, just be careful if they want to bump you up on the dosage. I don't know if anyone else had that issue and you may not but read all you can and make the personal decision for yourself.

Hello,

I took Byetta for about 6 months or so, at first I lost a few pounds, 5 or so, then I lost nothing and the Byetta did no do anything for me. For some it works, for others is doesn't. I was switched to metaformin but that made me have low BGs so now I do not take anything.

Good Luck.
