Good Morning

BETTE55 - 5:38AM PDT, Sep 11th 2010

If anybody is out there, I might fit the profile. I am 61, very active , very overweight. I'm at 247. I actully like to work out and am diciplined about that, I do a lot of exercise at least 30 minutes a day. I try to get 10000 steps in but more often than not land at about 7800. I actully feel good, am healthy, have good stats. I want to get rid of this weight. I like my life and want to contiue to live it in the fashion I'm accustomed to. I have a husband, and my sister lives with us. We are all enablers. My only bad habit is overeating. If anyone wants to hang out here, I'll try to be there for you. It sucks to be 60 so in my mind I'm 40. (Just so you know):

Bette, I am glad to hear an echo from the canyon! I posted the last note and nary a response. Maybe we can keep each other company, encourage each other and go for the gold!

My husband could easily be an enabler but I tell him- tell me the truth- I can't win this battle if you don't speak up! But then my adult kids give lots of feedback. My daughter is into organic, clean eating, local food production/eating so she is after me to eat healthy. I too love to get out there and exercise and have enjoyed the monthly challenges we make with ourselves under the challenge forum. It has pushed me further than I thought I could go on the very first month- August. I upped the ante for Sept!
How about you, do you participate in the challenges? What do you like about CK the best?

I am there with you. I am 67, was told today that my asthma is probably converted into Chronic Bronchitis (and me a non-smoker). :( Have been having some other age-related health changes, which is why I am here. need make some more healthy choices and really think the support will be very helpful. so thanks in advance! :hi:

PROHEALTHRN - 7:41PM PDT, Sep 18th 2010

Bette,

Sorry to hear you were given the diagnosis of chronic bronchitis. These labels don't help, except to motivate us to a healthier life style. I know as a health care provider that just hearing that makes some go into depression. Don't give up. Do what you can. We have to move a bit slower but at least we are still moving! Arthritis is what gets me- my hip hurts quite a bit but I walk anyway. If we don't use it we do indeed lose it! Glad you are here exploring your health options. There is a lot of support to be had here in the forums and groups.

Right now I am in a plateau- should not be surprised. Read in the forum that after you lose 20 #s your body stops to recalibrate. Hope it doesn't take too long to do that. I would like to lose 10 more #s in the month ahead- will probably be 5-8 more realistically, if the plateau can be overcome. I am going on a trip to CO in mid Oct and want to be in better shape to climb around with my son and daughter in law on some rocks.

We are enjoying perfect weather now. Where do you live? How is your weather? I wonder if this is going to be a cold, wet winter after this strange summer we just had.

BETTE55 - 8:45PM PDT, Oct 1st 2010

Sorry I had somewhat given up on this board but now I see some action! Nice to hear from you. I have not done the challenges. I have only lost 12 pounds since May. I was on the Century Club post which I am also sorry to say I fit the profile and a lady is talking about loosing 43 pounds in a month with a no processed food, highprotien, no red meat diet. Think I'm going to give it a week and see. I think your daughter in law is right. I try to eat healthy but as you know it ain't easy!! TGIF I love the weekend, but is my weakest time.
If you're still out there ring me back! Talk later.

I am looking for better nutrition, I decided to go back to the vegan diet that I was on before. Had a great supper: grated fresh beet with low calorie vinegarette dressing, fresh carrot, celery and pepper strips, and a bowl of black eyed peas cooked in tomato sauce. then had a flour tortilla with 1 tsp peanut butter for dessert. feel really full and satisfied and stilll under my calorie goal!!

BETTE55 - 4:09PM PDT, Oct 2nd 2010

I don't know if I could do a vegan diet or not. I don't eat alot of meat just to keep the calories down but I think I might take a bite out of my husband if I cut it out completely. The scales issue is common. I don't know what up with me. I can fluctuate by 12 pounds from morning to night. I am the lightest when I get home from work.

BETTE55 - 3:46PM PDT, Oct 3rd 2010

Well folks, keep tagging. Hope eveyone had a lovely weekend. I'm starting to get Monday morning anxiety. I hate that, I start wondering what to wear, what have I got on my calendar. Then I get stressed because I'm taking away precious minutes from my weekend. It has been a stessfull Sunday anyway Husband and I bought a new HD 3D TV. We can't get it hooked up so the DVR box works. I have someone coming out to do it next week but just in principle we would like to be able to read a set of directions and get it too work.........too much to ask. We have the tv working, but not with the DVR. Oh Well.
I worked out this morning 15 minutes on the treadmill, 15 on the stationary bike, 5 on the jogging board, 5 weights. I usually swim for 10 or 15 but the pools last day was Friday, it's dipped down to 50 at night and I the the pool is about78, too cold for me. I will have to add my outside bike (from one end of my street to the other is about 10 minutes) or my sister's eliptcal machine which is pretty much like taking a beating for me. Oh well bye all have a good evening. (I have 7645 on the pedometot, does anyone do that?)

PROHEALTHRN - 9:42AM PDT, Oct 4th 2010

Bette,
you have quite the varied exercise routine going there. I am proud of you! What is an eliptical machine like? Just doing the walking and biking at this point. Have it down on my list to pull out the video when it rains. (My walking partner tells me that may be tomorow.) Today we walked in the low clouds- like fog! How cool was that? 53 degrees to be exact. Got to love fall! I used a pedometer today to measure our walk. Our normal course is too steep for my back/hips to handle today. At least we walked. My walking partner has a puppy she is trying to leash train. She was a hoot today- chasing water drops in the grass, trying to chase Canadian geese, wrapping the leash around us both in her excitement. We quit early, her master was done in. Now will get the rest of my miles on the bike. I'll keep the pedometer in my pocket for the rest of the day and see how it does.
Enjoy the day.

Just returned from trip CO. Enjoyed seeing lots of color in Pagosa Springs, Durango, Singleton area. Went up to WinterPark for a night. Played Frisbee Golf on a challenging course with our son and DIL- what a challenge that was! Had a blast. So thankful for the 32 # lost before the trip- made moving around so much easier. Even able to run a bit at 10,000 feet! Now to keep on course and continue to lose weight. With insurance changes it is so vital to be as healthy as possible. Good day and health to you all. ~ Linda
