Hi Everyone, :hi:
I joined CK in early January. I just turned 60 on Jan. 21st. Now that the reality has set in about how old I am, I am having an identity crisis; 60 years old and 40 pounds over weight. When my mother turned 60, I thought she was old. Now that I am 60, its not that old after all ;)

In this new decade, I want to become healthier and more active. Joining CK is one step toward that goal. I look forward to this journey. Through CK and this group, I hope to learn how to once and for all lose these extra pounds and keep them off.

Have a great weekend,
Diane

Welcome, Diane, and Happy Birthday! :rock1:

I joined CK last July but didn't really use it until January 1. So far it has been very useful. The members on the forums have a wealth of information, opinions, and support to share. Enjoy!

Thank you Karen. I am happy to meet you!

I'm glad I found CK. Heaven knows I need all the help I can get. :help:

Hi, Diane and Karen! I'm 61, but since I'm not dead yet I'm convinced it's worthwhile to work on losing my extra baggage (more than 40 lbs!) and getting healthier. CK has helped me too, and making friends on the journey is not just a little part of it.

Hi Ursa,
I think it is always good to become healthier regardless of age. We might be able to add good quality years to our lives through exercise and a healthy diet.

Anyone watch The Biggest Loser? I was so impressed with what Jerry was able to do. On his first day, he passed out after exercising and now he is jogging with his grandchildren. What an inspiration! Good going Jerry! :thumbu2:

I just got off 3 night shifts. I do great with my diet when I am home, but those night shifts really mess me up. I crave those high calorie comfort foods at work. Any ideas on how to get over this?
Diane

The only thing I know to do is plan ahead and carry plenty of tasty and healthy foods. Proteins are filling and satisfying, also whole grains and warm vegetables are more comfort than salad. And part of my journey is learning to be proud of myself when I "just say no." I know we can do this.

Hi Ursa, :wave1:
Thanks for the ideas on how to eat while working. I will give that a try.

I just realized the last posting was a year ago. I guess this group is not active.
