Hi,

Till this new set-up I never checked out the groups. May I join? The chalanges for my age are way different that for the younger members. Everyone is great, but reading here would be wonderful.

Thanks,
Sue

LIVINGHEALTHY - 12:03PM PST, Dec 6th 2008

Hi, I'm new to this group. I'll be 61 in a couple of months. I started in July '08 and have lost 20 pounds and have 50 more to lose to get back to my pre-menopause weight. I find a few things help me: I tell myself I can do it (and I believe it); I write in my food journal that I carry with me; I find I do better when I pack my lunch and take to work; I repeat my affirmations while driving to work (positive thinking); I weigh myself several times a week (keep me on track); and realize whatever I do is 99.9% mental (not will-power, "want-to power";). As a Girl Scout our motto was "Be Prepared." Still works. If you want something, you have to prepare for it. Next, I need to focus on "regular" exercise. Lots of little goals. How are you doing? What works for you? --Julie

Hi Julie,

I agree with you on every point. Those are the ways that I have also been able to be successful. That and lots of exercise.

Thanks,
Sue

I agree with SBS - this is the group for me. I haven't read all your posts yet but I will soon.

I joined CK in August, then got knocked out of the water when I had to move our household after ten years. But the silver lining is that I lost 8 pounds moving day and after day. I never experienced much hunger. In the long run its not practical to exercise off 1500-2000 calories a day: not a viable lifestyle! So back to reality.

Reality is that I still have two kids at home (one is significantly disabled), work full time and try to keep everything going. But I am near a computer most of the day so CK is turning out to be the best thing I ever did! And the support is fantastic. This is social networking at its best!

Hi Kathy,
Just read your post and you've got your hands full! One of my two sons should have graduated college this past May but due to some personal issues, is taking some time off but it's making it very difficult here at home. And I'm sure you can relate how as parents, we all want to "fix" our kids and get them on their way. My heart goes out to you in your special circumstance. Hope you get settled in your new home in time for the holidays and begin to make a new life! Congratulations on your weight loss thus far. I'm trying to take off the same 10 pounds I put on and off for the last 3 years...and my ultimate goal is to lose a total of 18 pounds. You think I could do that when some have so much more to lose, but I've been yo-yoing like this for almost a decade now. Hopefully, with the support of the great people at CK, maybe I'll reach my goal once and for all! Look forward to getting to know you better!
Gabreilla
