Yup, that's me. Someone who "consistently loses slower" than other people. 'm really looking forward to talking with other people who really and truly try as hard as everybody else and just don't lose much weight. We need to encourage each other and not get down about it.

The most weight I ever lost in a single month was 3 lbs. I'm not very tall either. Calorie King has set my daily calories at 1200 which is about as low as you can go without everybody yelling at you. It's hard to keep my calories to only 1200!!!

But I've been doing this for years. decades. most of my life since I was 12. I keep counting calories and doing the best I can. Over the spring and summer I lost 13 lbs. Huge amt for me. I gained back 5 lbs over vacation in August. I'm pissed at how easy the weight comes on (that vacation was 5 days long, and I only ate whatever I wanted to for the last day). But I know the only answer is keep going.

Quit smoking (3 weeks) and started running, hoping the two will balance each other out in terms of metabolism.

Welcome Sleepygoat:

Keeping those calories down is the big challenge. I set mine for 1100 per day, as I seem to best within this range. Also, keeping carbs down for me is a big key.

Oh yeah, and don't forget some kind of "fun" exercise a day. I hate exercise unless it's enjoyable. Can't stand treadmills, etc.

I had an "off" day yesterday... A day I would normally not have counted... We were at a big backyard cookout....

I thought I was keeping things under control somewhat, but when I counted up all the calories, I was over 1700... Okay for some, but not for me.....

So, today I am back to meticulous counting, and a good hike on some newly discovered trails near our house....

Getting ready to get out there now.

Keep posting....

I learned that eating less was actually making me fatter :bigeyes3: because it turned off my fat burning mecanism (metabolism). A good way to kickstart that metabolism is by doing a combination of weight training and cardio. It's amazing how I saw those pounds start coming off. Unfortunately, when I stopped exercising, the pounds started crawling back up. Starting over and trying to stay constistent is my biggest problem right now but I know eventually I'll get back on track. I'm just taking it one day at a time right now.

I am continually being amazed that if one goes to a picnic, one can only have ONE of EITHER the offered hamburger or hotdog, NOT both.

I have gotten to where I pass up the bun often.

Yes, hot dogs, hamburgers and all the trimmings.

What killed me were those Tostito chips. Once I get started, they're addicting, and guess where they were placed? Right in front of me, of course.....

Oops, did I just admit, I am addicted to food????

Well, I have to just keep counting everything and looking for results...
