I'm a 30....something. (although I still swear to my kids that I am 29 :-) I just joined yesterday and today is my first day on the program. Hopefully we'll have some more takers for the group!

Hello. I am thirty-four and just joined CK again. Was a member about a year and a half ago and lost ten pounds in two months. However, this time I have lost ten pounds in twelve weeks. I have no kids and just moved to Canada with my husband and can't work until January. I work out six days a week and ususally stay at or under my calories. I would like to get pregnant this year and am worried about being overweight before getting pregnant. I would like to lose more than one pound per week.

Hi!! I joined CK back in July (I think) but I've been gone for a while. Glad to see a group for us 30-somethings.
LBreed: I want to get preganant too but haven't been able too. I'm hoping that working with CK will help!!

I hope CK does work for you (and me too in that area)!! I think that all the girls in the 30-something group should sign up for the New Year's Resolution Weight Loss Challenge. You have to sign up by Jan. 4th and there are weekly fitness challenges. This will be my first challenge and am very excited about it.

Just joined tonight when I realized that I gained 8lbs this holiday season. Started working out in April 08 & have been doing well with the exercise (until this last week or 2). Weight is coming off slowly though. Need to be accountable for what is going into my mouth.

Hello there! So far I have been doing good on the program except for New Years Eve! Hope you were more sucessful then I on New Years

I am assuming the numbers you guys are writing down are your weights and goal weights? I am new to ALL of this.....I have never had a weight problem anytime in my life until now and I never have been religious at reading food labels. It is crazy how many calories are in some foods!!!!

i'm 35 and trying to lose 25 lbs. I have lost around 50 total over the last couple of years and have stalled out at this weight for about a year. I would love to join the weight loss challenge but not sure how to. Could you give me some information?
top
Good job on what you have lost so far. I weight loss challenge is listed on the community page and is called New Year's Resolution Weight Loss Challenge. The women who organizes it is called "mama." You have to post your weight as of today and then follow her intructions for the fitness challenges each week that are on the website- presidentschallenge.org. Some of the other girls in the 30's something group have joined as well. Good luck

Hello all. Well I just returned to Canada from the States. The holidays werent' nice. My counsins house didn't have a scale but I went to the doctor to get my birth control taken out and I had gained four pounds!!! Yesterday I traveled for 18 hours so I couldn't work out either. Oh well. Totally motivated today to get back on track. I am hoping to lose ten pounds in the next six weeks. Jeramie is right, glad to have the routine back in my life too. Welcome to all the new girls.

I don't know about anyone but I would love to strengthen my stomach muscles. What about a situp challenge?

I would love to work on my abs as well! So I would definitely be up for a sit up challenge!!

Hi Ladies,
I'll be 38 this year and I want to be closer to my goal at that point. I have 30 pounds to lose. I joined CK after my daughter was born and lost 15 pound before getting pregnant with my son. He's almost 18 months and I still have 15 pounds of 'pregnancy weight' hanging around.
I've made a commitment to put myself first - literally - this year. My 'wake up challenge' is to rise and shine early enough to get my workouts in before the kiddos wake up. So far it's going well. No weight loss yet but I exercised 7 days straight last week![]()

Just wanted to see how everyone is doing? I have been working out like crazy and am barely losing a pound a week!! Very frustrating. I know it is my diet. I am working out too much and not getting enough calories. I always heard of this but didn't think it really happened. I just got my IUD removed and feel like my body is not functioning as normal because it knows I want to get pregnant. My IUD had no hormones in it either. Is this just all in my head?

You know your body best!
If you're working out a lot that also can effect your ability to get pregnant. (Your normal hormones can get out of whack when you're working out intensely - you'll find a lot of articles about it out there... I've put the link to one below.) Try less intense workouts and see if that helps you with both the weightloss and the pregnancy!

Good Luck!

So how would we set up this challenge and get others involved? (I am new to this and need all the help I can get
top
Hey Liz, I hear ya with the whole body not functioning well after birth control. I quit using Depo-Provera back in 2001 and I'm still waiting for my body to be "normal. " My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about four years with and without the help of fertility drugs etc. Knowing what I know now, I would have never done Depo. I've pretty much given up on the whole thing. It ticks me off otherwise
, then I just want to eat more junk food.
Mochavw: I'm pretty new at this too. I think we just need to pick something (starting in Feb?) and do it. Say for example, we want to work on the abs, do 1000 crunches for the month (which works out to about 35-36 a day) or make a goal of 300,000 steps for the month (10,000 a day) or something like that. These are some of the same things other groups do. From what I've seen, those in the group that participate in the challenge usually tack on their progress to the signature like the weight goals.

I think a challenge for us 30's girls sounds great. However, might I suggest that we do a weekly challenge so as not to lose our motivation? For example, week one could be three hundred sit-ups each day, week two could be sixty lunges M,W, and F and sixty push-ups on T, Thurs, and Sat.? Any other ideas?

I've been with CK since Dec
but I am new to this group
.
I am 36
and after getting a wake up call (a really bad case of Pneumonia) almost 2yrs ago and some major disagreements with my previous doctor
, I decided to take a very active roll in my own health care (much to the dismay of the aforementioned Doctor). I started making some changes to my lifestyle and diet and last year lost 53 pounds and managed to keep all but 6 pounds off over the holidays
This was a first ever for me. I had always managed to loose 30-40lbs in the first part of the year but by the end of the year I had gained it all back and most of the time plus more
. I am now down to the last 63 pounds I want to loose. It is the lowest I have been in 15yrs
I know when I have the accountablity of logging in my meals and workouts as well as doing the challenges I seem to keep on track better.
Not to mention that for the first time in my life I can honestly say I really love my workouts
and miss them when I don't get to them each day
So I would deffinatly be up for another challenge, but will have to admit 300 situps a day will definatly be out of my league for a bit.
if for no other reason that lack of time on the days I work.

Hi everyone - this looks like a fun group and, being 31 and all, I guess I'm qualified to join. ![]()
I started with CK August 2008 and lost a quick 15 lbs in the first 3 months, then stalled out for the next 3 (with a little 3 pound detour)
. Back to being very religious about counting, training for a 10K in March (1st 5K back at Thanksgiving time), and loving the new CK program that makes you hit certain goals before moving on to the next level (I want to hit my calorie target for 5 days in a row just so I can get access to that next article...which isn't really that compelling...but I MUST accomplish the goal...weird).
MochaVW and LBreed - would LOVE to join you in the 200 Sit-ups Challenge! There's also a 100 Push Ups Challenge, which I was planning to alternate with the situps because my upper body strength is pathetic. Check it out here (both sites link to each other): http://hundredpushups.com./index.html.
I'll start a new thread to post our starting points and weekly progress. That worked really well when training for a 5K - fun to share each week how things were going. Can't wait to get to know you all better!

Where is the situp thread? Mochavw and anyone else on this page, we could start our own and rotate between the sit-ups and push-ups? We could check in daily to share if we did our push/sit-ups to hold each other accountable. Opinions???

You can also get their by going to 'The 30's Rock' group page and scrolling through the threads there.
I'm planning to alternate pushups and situps, and report the max from each workout. Can't wait to hear how your initial test goes!
