I Have Joined Your Group - Help!

MECHDONNA2 - 9:09PM UTC, Oct 13th 2010

I am 56 years young and have been a CK member for two and a half years. I have lost a few pounds, but lately my arthritis has been bothering me. I don't enjoy walking as much as I used to. Anyway, I would like to be a member of your group, since we are all over 50 years old, and many of us having issues with our health.

Hello... I can relate -- I am new to CK also. and just found out I have arthritis in my back and neck. However, have been going to Physical Therapy, and it has really helped. That was the final straw, to up my weight loss efforts.

Hello Donna:

I know what you are going through. I am 58 years old. I have arthritic knees and its hard for me to walk. Also, I sprained my left knee 3 weeks ago and still have a lot of discomfort. At work I sit in front of a computer for most of the day and although I am watching my calories, I would love to take a walk and just get moving. It's good to know that we can all support one another toward a path to better health.

I forgot to answer your question about how I am doing. The weather has been nice the last couple of days, so I have been walking my puppy. I also use the stationary bike at the YMCA on the days that I don't walk.

I just checked my info on CK. I have been consuming around 1600 calories on the average. I would like to get that average lower.

Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Good for you! It is so important to exercise those muscles.

Although I learned how to prepare fancy foods, I prefer the simple, light ones. The courses were not exactly fun. I was one of the oldest students and we worked in teams. It was very stressful at times meeting our deadlines. I have a couple of classes left to take. I am really glad I took the courses, but I have yet to land a job. I am hoping to work part-time.

Keep up the soup making! Nothing like hot soup as the weather gets colder.

Hi there. was wondering how you are doing. Am doing OK here. have more definition of muscles on ankles, calfs, wrists and forearms. belly is not moving and neither are the hips. GRR. Tries adding some crunches today. :drunk:

How are the culinary arts classes? sounds like fun. I love food, preparing it especially. simple foods are great but sometimes the little touches make it special. today cooked some barley and made soup. dont do it often enough.

Well its bed time now. night:wave1:

We were both on the monthly challenge where we decide our rewards, I believe.

Nice to hear from you. Keep me posted on your progress.

welcome Donna!

I just turned 57 last week. Have been a member of CK for several years, just not very successful. More lack of commitment than the program.

I actually follow the WW points system and go to a meeting once per month trying to get back my lifetime status. The face to face scale thing is helpful to me.

I live in Iowa, daughter used to live in Virginia (Herndon) with the Navy so have been in your state. I used to live in NY and PA before coming back to the midwest 15 years ago.

Hopefully your week has gone well for you.

5'8" - 57 yrs. old

10/8: 199

My goal is to lose 5#, 7 times over = 35# total

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the answer

How funny and true. :) But, where would we be without them? Thanks for sharing.

A friend sent me a card that said: MRS' MURPHY'S LAW: "IF IT HAS TIRES OR TESTOSTERONE IT IS TROUBLE" even when she was a little kitten, Murphy much preferred women to men. basically still ignores them and she is 16. But the morning after we got her we took her to the vet so she is a permanent "miss".

Hope you had a good day!

Love your cat's name. How did you come up with it?

Thanks for your reply. You are so fortunate to love your job. I live near Richmond, Virginia, and have a supportive husband, too. I could serve him cardboard, too, but I am taking classes in culinary arts, so I try to cook well. I would like to find a part-time job in the culinary art field. Even a low paying job would be fine, but no luck so far. It seems everyone wants years of experience in the kitchen. I have years of experience in offices.

Again, thanks for you reply, and let's keep each other posted on our progress.

dont we though!:sad3: I have arthritis too, mostly in the low back. really a bummer. have to be careful what I do. found that I cant do eliptical or running. walking is OK though and I love my treadmill because the slight elevation takes the pressure off my low back. hate swimming though and that is the one that everyone recommends.

I am 67, soon to be 68. still working as a nurse practitioner. not sure when i will retire because it is as much a calling as an occupation. have a loving husband who is very supportive. would eat cardboard if I served it, provided it was not two days in a row.

We live in Western WA. Share about yourself? :hi:
