Hi there, I am 51 and just started calorie king last Sunday. my husband and I joined a gym the last week in December and I have lost 10 pounds in 3 months. it seems really slow..... and when I heard about Calorie King I thought this may be what I need. I am hypo thyroid and on medication, quite smoking a couple years ago and am peri meniposal... so all those stacked against me but I am determined to not gain anymore weight. I was 25 pounds over weight and have 15 more to go. I am hoping talking with others will help keep me going.:$

Hi,
you are doing great. I love CK so far. I have been on it for 2 1/2 weeks and have been steadily losing. You will get there and if you work the program you will see results. I too am hypo thyroid and peri menopausal so can relate.

Hang in there :wave1:

Welcome HDC, You are in the right place. I was able to lose 20 lbs over the last 2 and 1/2 months. Even more important are the concrete improvements to my overall health. My Dr is now considering taking me off of blood pressure medication and reducing others. You will get a lot of support and information on these forums. That's been my experience. Anyway, just wanted to say hello to a fellow 50 something.

GW that's awesome that you might be able to go off your blood pressure med. One reason I started to eat right and get healthy is I'm trying not to go on cholesterol medication. My Dr said she would give me 3 months to get my cholesterol down. If it isn't down when I go back she will make me go on medication. Hope i don't have to

"Stacked against me"....Heck girl....think of them as the challenges that only a woman could overcome....I do, and I have knocked off most of my weight also! But even better than that, we are changing the universal perception about Menopause and women over 50!!!
Congrats on your successes and on all your future successes!!

Hi, I'm nearly 51 and new to actually using the program. Started about a year ago and didn't really use it. I have to now! Many life-changing (and photo opportunities!) coming soon. My son graduates from high school in May, my daughter is getting married in June, I am going on a trip to the British Virgin Islands in July with my fiance (and we may decide to get married then.) Bottom line! I don't want to be fat! I've always been small, but have really gained weight this past year. I'm 5' and weigh 140 lbs due to my habit of drinking red wine every night and not exercising. Plus, the perimenopause thing. Look forward to having folks hold me accountable!

Hi PIBClark. You can do it! I too am going to BVI this year and have been trying to get back to "me" for the trip. I am only in my 2nd week of calorie king but am liking it because it does make you watch what you are doing.

GWALTNEY153 good for you, Your first step in getting off yours med. I hope you can get off the rest soon.
Studies have shown that walking can make your blood vessels more elastic so the blood can flow easier. Which this can help lower your blood pressure.

Hey Florida, good for you on the initial loss. I wasn't sure either when I started if the calories CK gave me was the right amount, but I have been losing every week. Keep on keeping on. :smile1:

PLBCLARK - 8:23PM PDT, Apr 26th 2010
