Hi everyone!

I'm new to the group and am a 51 yo who is weight challenged. I try to keep it together with two blogs since I've been on this journey since last year. If I would have known Calorie King had blogs I wouldn't have done these others.

I live in the Las Vegas, Nevada area which is a challenge itself as I hate the heat and right now it's cold. I really need a more temperate climate, I swear...LOL!

If you're interested to see them, one I'm starting to post daily and the other at least weekly, they are at:

http://journeyfromfat2fit.blogspot.com/

and

http://caseyschallenge.blogspot.com/

The first one is mine exclusively and the second one is one I do with two other women who aren't doing so well. Don't know what's wrong there but I think I've started getting in the groove and the blogging helps.

What do you find helps you when challenged?

Lynn

Hi!!! My name is Moses!!!!!!

Hi Lynn:

I will be glad to trade climates with you I am here in Indiana whereit was 54 day before yesterday and this morning it is 29 with a wind chill of 19......my son lives in Las Vegas and I have always enjoyed visiting there all except the REALLY hot over 105 weather , then I am just two big puddles of butter fat. I am 58 so I can relate to the challenge of losing at this age. So I give you something from the Tao Te Ching(Anicent wisdom over 2500 years old) " The journey of 1000 miles starts with one step". I try to hit my calorie target TODAY. then I try again, just like AA it's "one day a time" , one meal at a time because that is all I can control. I hope this helps in some small way to plant the seed of hope that "you can do this" , I am convinced that people our age can lose weight and get fit or at least we are going to die if we don't try.

Hi!
I'm new to CK boards.

I've used the calorie counter before but I hope by signing on I can get off the last 15 pounds this next year. I weighed in Friday at 154 and I've lost and gained the same seven pounds for the past couple of years.

I did get down to 135 for a minute or so back in the early part of this decade but sustaining it is the trick. I hope to just balance what I eat and find my weight going down due to eating right. I'm not interested in dieting. I'm going to be 55 in the spring and I'd like to be on my way by then.
I've dieted all my life and have weighed as much as 200# and as little as 119#(when I was 20).
I'd like to get on a board that is active even on weekends and through holidays. If anyone can help me with which boards to go to, that would be wonderful. Thanks, J

I am Leslie, age 56 (soon to be 57). I find that I eat when I'm lonely, sad, bored, or to make myself feel better. It has been a pattern that I'm not sure I know how to break. I lose a few pounds and then gain them right back. It makes me feel bad about myself. I try to do this one meal at a time thing, but...sometimes I'm just lazy. I quit writing in my diary just before Christmas, but am ready to get back on track!

JSammy, Thanks for the input. I followed your advice and found the January Challenge. Just what I needed. Thanks. Seems there's more than me in that 50s age group. I guess we are all here because we do get motivated, lose some weight or even lots of weight but then it comes back so here we all are, still at it! Janet

Hi!!! My name is Moses!!!!!!

Leslie:

We have all been there..............I am an equal opportunity offender, I eat when happy to celabrate , I eat when I am sad, mad , glad and the list goes on and on.

The best way to break the chain in to use your food dairy and log EVERY thing you eat ,that makes you stop and think before you put it in your mouth. I looked at your home page and back at the end of November , first of December you had a run going of several days where you met your calorie target , so I know you can do this. So take it one step , one meal , one day at a time. Ask yourself can I do this right now and when you find yourself heading off into trouble land, do something to get your mind reset other than getting something to eat, maybe going for a walk or doing something you really enjoy. I have been working on this since NOVember 11th and while I am still a work in progess being accountable to my food dairy has helped me drop 21 pounds so far , which is the best I have ever done on any program.

I hope some this helps...........it helps me to know I am not alone that other people struggle with the same things that I thought were mine alone.

Let us hear on how its going?

When you change the way you look at things, things you at change.

Stay the course,

JSammy,
Thanks for the encouragement. THere's just something about posting and then having someone notice I am there and post back to me.
I'm putting everything into the program. I like your quote about making every day count, so true.
Wonderful to hear you have lost 21 pounds since November. WOW!
