Calorie King and Weight Loss Surgery

CSCOLEMAN - 10:22AM PST, Nov 30th 2009 top

This group may be small, but lets see if we can expand it. I am interested in finding out more about Gastric Bypass surgery and how Calorie King can be incorporated into it. I have problems with getting all of the necessary nutrients and proteins in. Is there anyone willing to start the "fight" with me? Would love to hear from you!

Not really sure why this group has not caught on ... perhaps many WLS patients found Calorie King difficult to tune to their special needs so they gave up. Fortunately the new format is more flexible for setting targets so I find it to work for me. I just ignore the "program" and use the weigh in, diary, and activity sections.
When did you have surgery? I had my RNY on May 12, 2009. I have lost 90 lbs to date with only a couple of complications that were fairly minor. I am at the point that I can eat about a cup of some foods but if they are very dense it might be as little as 1/2 cup. I am able to get in most of my fluids but find myself a cup or 2 short on busy days. Not having too much issue with holiday goodies. I can take a taste of something sweet but don't really crave it or want to even finish it. I prefer salty things at this point so sweets don't entice me too much.
In order to get my protein in I drink 2 - 3 predigested protein shakes a day ... ones with at least 30 grams of protein per serving. That gives me the ability to have my 3 or 4 oz of meat at one meal or even two if I'm up to it. I can't say I really feel hungry at any time but I know I need to eat so I do.
I use the CK diary to keep track of my foods and meds. For the meds I just enter them as custom foods with 0 calories. I found when I did not do that I would forget if I had taken all my vitamins for the day. At one point my stored iron was really low and I had to have IV infusions and those are NOT cheap. I am diligent about taking it and recording it now. I have a pretty set routine at this point. I wake up weigh myself, take my morning meds, record in Calorie King. At night I take my meds and record in CK. I will try to record meals, fluids and meds throughout the day but it I miss then I make sure to catch up in the evening. Weighing myself everyday does not really make a difference in how I feel ... I know the pattern of my weight loss at this point so I don't freak out if I see the scale go up a pound or two. Doing it daily really allows me to compare it to my eating patterns more easily. I can see when I've had too much salt and I'm retaining fluids so I make sure to watch that for the next few days.
I know of one other person using CK who had WLS ... I will point her to this group and see if we can get it moving.
