Brandon lost 115 lbs!


What were your weight-control goals?
When I started my weight loss goals were being able to get into size 40 waist or lower and maybe get down to a least 240 lb or more. I want to be able to do things others can do and be able to shop in regular stores and buy clothes without going to speciality stores.
What motivated you to lose weight?
Two main things motivated me. One was my Dad's death. Sometimes people say when one part of your life closes another one opens and I believe it opened a new door for a healthy lifestyle. The second reason was that I had some blood work done and the doctor told me to come back for the results so I did. She sat me down and told me if I didn't do something now I could develop diabetes. It scared me to death and I knew it was time to do something about it.
What was your weight-loss method?
First my weight loss method was just cutting down on portions and moving more. So when I started I would still eat the same things but cut down portions. I gradually changed things in my diet. Then after a month I decided to join a gym and hooked up with a personal trainer. They set me up with eating plan and excerise plan. That really helped make the pounds go off. I cut my calories down to 1500 to 1900 and started excerising 4 days a week or more and twice a week with a personal trainer.
What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?
The obstacles that I came accross were psychological. I was an emotional eater and I had to stop using food as comfort. I would binge at night before just because something was on TV or I was bored. Another obstcale was willpower. I have tried before and never succeeded but somehow I knew this time would be different.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Take it one day at a time. You have to want to lose the weight because if you don't want to you will not succeed. It takes motivation and willpower to succeed. Keep your self motivated and remind yourself what you are doing this for.
How do you feel now that you've lost weight?
OMG! I feel so great! I cant believe how much energy I have regained. How lively I am. Overall I'm just so happy to be alive. I now live life one day at a time.
