My weight loss goal is to be down to 222 lbs by October 2005. October of 2004 I weighed in at 329.5 lbs. I cannot believe I weighed that much, but what is more unbelievable is that I'm down to about 265 lbs.
What is your motivation for losing weight?
I was sick of being fat. I did not want to die early of diabetes. I'm 25 yrs old and I've been overweight all my life. I also found a person that had lost a lot of weight and he offered to mentor me. We meet every three weeks.
What is your weight-loss method?
Logging everything I eat. Keeping daily average calorie intake at or under 2500 calories, which is right for my body type. I also walk at least 3 times a week. My aim is to walk everyday but that is not always realistic for me.
What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
Getting up and going to the gym in the winter months was hard. I started during the season when most people start gaining weight. So those early x-mas parties were very tempting. But I lost a ton of weight when most people were packing it on.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
I think it is very difficult to do this alone. Get the support of people around you. Talk about it because when you do people will really support you. Make sure you have realistic goals. Make a diet that you can live with for the rest of your life. If you finding that you don't like it then you will not keep up with it. Make it a lifestyle change.
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
I feel great. I have energy, I can run now. I can walk around and not get tired. It is great.
