I want to be healthier. I want to look better and feel better about myself. I don't know if that's going to be 180 pounds, 175, or 155. I'll find out when I get there.
What is your motivation for losing weight?
Mostly personal. My partner loves me however I look, but I woke up one day at 255 pounds after hovering just under 250 for years. For some reason, crossing that threshold really got me thinking about my health and taking better care of my body.
What is your weight-loss method?
Low-carb, low-calories, exercise (weights and cardio) 5x/week. And give myself a guilt-free indulgence every so often. Another huge part of my success so far is making sure I build a lot of variety into my diet. I'm always trying new recipes to keep meals interesting.
What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
I have a very hard time staying motivated. I go through periods where I am very on, and periods where I am very off. This is my personality in general. I've had to find ways to keep myself interested, challenged, and motivated. Sometimes that's through setting a personal goal and other times through friendly competition.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Allow yourself indulgences. Throw new challenges at yourself to keep things interesting. And do it for yourself and nobody else. I also wake up at 5:30am four times a week to go to the gym before work. It's amazing how much more energy this gives me, and how much focus it gives me - not only on losing weight but on everything else. It's a great way to start the day.
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
I feel really good about myself. I look in the mirror and have a better self-image. I also feel more confident that I can reach my ultimate goal.
How have the products or services offered by CalorieKing assisted you in your weigh-loss journey?
The online food log is awesome. I can access it from home or work, or even an Internet cafe which is useful since I travel often. The forums and support from other members are key!
