Terrie lost 35lbs and says, "I just feel so much better emotionally and physically."
Before: 171 lbs After: 136 lbs
What are your weight-control goals?
I wanted to fit into the size 8 Armani skirt that I had "outgrown". I had gained a substantial amount of weight in a fairly short amount of time and hated to have to buy new clothes in a size 16.
Now that I am back into size 8 clothes, my main goal is to be healthy and to stay physically active.
What is your motivation for losing weight?
The picture above. I knew I had gained weight, but until I saw this picture I had no idea it was that bad. I keep a copy of the picture on my desk at work and new employees are always amazed that was me 2 years ago.
What is your weight-loss method?
I started out counting calories, then I started balancing the calories as suggested by CK. I started working out and eating a "clean" diet with limited refined and processed foods. Counting calories is important, but so is where the calories come from. I started to view food more as fuel for my body - you wouldn't put junk in the gas tank of your car!
What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
I travel a lot for work and for long periods of time. This means eating out for weeks or months at a time. I also suffered a stress fracture in my knee. I went from working out 6 times a week to being forced to rest and get around on crutches for 6 weeks.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Take it one day at a time. A dietitian told me to think of calories like money. If you were given $1500 every day, is it really worth $400 for that candy bar knowing you will only be left with $1100 to spend on food for the rest of the day?
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
Healthy, and for the first time in a really long time, I am starting to like the way I look. I just feel so much better emotionally and physically. My family can now tell when I have skipped exercise because I am in a rotten mood.
How have the products or services offered by CalorieKing assisted you in your weigh-loss journey?
The food database, used in the Food and Exercise Diary, is worth the money alone. I have developed friendships with many people through the blogs and they help you through some of those emotional times. Knowing you are not alone and that if you need someone to lift you up when you are having a bad day is priceless.
