What are your weight-control goals?
To eat a healthy, balanced diet and get regular exercise.
What is your motivation for losing weight?
I wanted a healthy body. The weight that I was at when I started limited my activities and my mental happiness. I wanted to be in a body that I felt comfortable in, and that wasn't the one.
What is your weight-loss method?
I went into a 12-step program which helped me with my powerlessness over food. The program gave me a way to heal my insides as I lost weight: I became willing to accept myself for who I was, whether or not I lost the weight. Weight loss ended up becoming a by-product of the step-work.
A nutritionist also developed a diet for me, but it's up to me to follow it.
What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
Social occasions were the hardest. I have dietary restrictions (no pork, allergic to dairy, low-sugar/fat) and it took quite a while for family, friends and co-workers to remember that. I don't know how many times I had to remind people, and still had nothing to eat when I got there. I usually ended up packing an emergency meal just in case they forgot. I almost always used it.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Concentrate on right now, because that's the only moment that counts. You can't change yesterday (fretting about it may only make you eat more!) And tomorrow is always a day away. But today you can make the right choice, right now. Before that food goes into the mouth, consider its consequences. Is it for sustenance or for consolation? You have the ability to make the choice.
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
I feel much happier. I can enjoy more of life now because I'm actually a part of it instead of a bystander. I'm slowly freeing myself of the bondage of my past and my weight. It's a path that I will follow for the rest of my life.

Because of the food tracking, I was actually able to see my binge and purge (through exercise) cycle. I was also able to see what type of calories I was taking in (i.e. too many fats) what food choices I made on a regular basis, problem foods, and overall nutritional balance.
