What were your weight-control goals?
To lose 122 pounds (about half my 245 lb weight).
What motivated you to lose weight?
My Mom has diabetes and high blood pressure, causing mini-strokes and dementia. Really afraid about the future if I didn't change my lifestyle.
What was your weight-loss method?
I bought the CalorieKing exercise book and calorie book. They are my bibles. Then I read the success stories at the website. I've tried to emulate the people at this website. I added exercise one session at a time until at my best I was up to 3 dance nights (about 3 hours folk dancing), 2 gym sessions (about 20 mins total) a week.
What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?
I'm a stress eater. When things with Mom's health are bad, or there is a lot of stress at work I tend to regress to my old habits.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Stay true to yourself. You are worth it. Drink those eight glasses of water religiously. Use the resources at this website. Try to build a support system. I'm very lucky, my coworkers and family have been wonderful support. They encourage me every pound of the way!
How do you feel now that you've lost weight?
I feel healthier. Also, I'm starting to feel like there is hope for me to reach my goal. I reached the 50lb mark last August. It was such a rush. I also am very proud to have maintained since then. (I can't wait to get back on track.)
