Your Doctor's Role

Are you a Doctor who wants to do more for your overweight patients?

Ever wished you could prescribe a scientifically valid, effective weight management program as easily as prescribing a sleeping pill?

CalorieKing has developed a unique program that will help you counsel, monitor and improve the health of your patients in a way that is compatible with your busy practice and won't cost you a cent.

Do you know whether you have high blood pressure? Or pre-diabetes? Do you have family members with these diseases? Have you discussed this with your doctor? If you have not, you should do so during your next visit.

You are on the CalorieKing website, so there is a good chance you have already identified your weight as a health concern.

Overweight is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher; obesity is defined as a BMI of 30 or higher. Research has shown that as weight increases to reach the levels referred to as "overweight" and "obesity," the risks for the following conditions also increase:

  • Coronary heart disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon)
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides)
  • Stroke
  • Liver and Gallbladder disease
  • Sleep apnea and respiratory problems
  • Osteoarthritis (a degeneration of cartilage and its underlying bone within a joint)
  • Gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility)

Your doctor wants to help you achieve and maintain good health. We encourage you to ask your doctor to calculate your BMI and discuss it with you. Ask whether your weight puts you at risk for these or other potentially avoidable conditions.

If you are a CalorieKing Program member or you're about to join, tell your doctor. Tell your doctor that you are using the CalorieKing Program to reach your goal weight or that you use CalorieKing to help you manage your weight. You may want to find out if your Doctor is interested in monitoring your progress on the program. If they are, refer them to this page.
