Ingredients:

These Bagel Chips are a nice alternative to traditional Home-Cooked Potato Chips. The make-over bagel recipe adds herbs for extra flavor, and reduces the amount of oil and salt.

  Recipe Makeover

2 Tbsp canola oil

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1/4 tsp dried mixed herbs

2 small bagels (2 oz each), plain or onion, cut into small bite-size pieces

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 oz Parmesan cheese, freshly grated


  Traditional Recipe

3 large potatoes (russet or white), peeled and very thinly sliced

1 Tbsp salt

1 quart oil for deep frying


Directions:

Heat the oil in a skillet and add the garlic and mixed herbs. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the bagel pieces in batches, turning them for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.

Drain the bagel chips on absorbent paper towels.

Serve in a warm serving dish, seasoned with salt and pepper and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

Variations:

Can serve as an accompaniment to your favorite dip.
