Yield: 2 x pears

Pears poached in a cinnamon sauce.

Ingredients:

2 firm ripe pears, 5 oz each

2 cup water

3 1/2 Tbsp maple syrup

1 cinnamon stick

1 Tbsp lemon juice

2 tsp corn flour

1 Tbsp water, extra


Directions:

Peel pears; keeping the stalk intact.

Combine water, maple syrup and cinnamon stick in a saucepan over medium heat until simmering. Add pears. Cook for approximately 15 minutes or until pears are soft when poked with a sharp knife.

Place pears onto serving dishes. Remove cinnamon stick from sauce and discard.

Bring sauce to boiling; add lemon juice. Turn down heat. Combine corn flour with extra water and stir into sauce until thickened.

Spoon over pears. Serve warm.

Variations:

Serve with lowfat yogurt or light whipped cream.

Honey can be used instead of golden syrup.
