Ingredients:

Traditional creamy pasta dishes have oodles of fat and calories. The healthier Pasta with Creamy Mushroom Sauce uses fresh herbs and lowfat sour cream, Canadian bacon and less shell pasta.

If nonfat sour cream is available, you can use it instead of lowfat sour cream (calories 327, KJ 1369, fat 2 g, sat.fat 0 g, chol 11 g).

  Recipe Makeover

2 slices Canadian bacon or links of lean turkey bacon, chopped

1 onion, chopped

1 clove garlic, crushed

4 flat mushrooms, sliced

7 oz lowfat sour cream

3 cup shell pasta, cooked

1 pinch freshly ground black pepper

1 Tbsp fresh thyme leaves

2 thick slices bacon, chopped

1 onion, chopped

1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

4 flat mushrooms, sliced

7 oz sour cream (or heavy cream)

4 cup shell pasta, cooked

1 pinch black pepper

1 tsp ground thyme


Directions:

RECIPE MAKEOVER:

Gently cook bacon, onion and garlic in a large saucepan until soft. Add mushrooms. Cook 3 minutes. Drain fat. Remove from heat. Add sour cream, pasta, pepper and thyme; combine. Stir in cooked pasta.

Serve hot in pasta bowls.

Variations:
