Tender sprouts tossed in almonds, bacon and onion.

Suggestions:

Choose small, bright green brussels sprouts as they are the sweetest and most tender.

* Please carefully check the ingredients of this product to ensure it contains no gluten, if a gluten-free recipe is required.

Ingredients:

1 lb brussels sprouts

4 lean bacon strips, chopped (such as Jennie-O)

1 onion, chopped

3 1/2 oz margarine or buttery spread *

1/2 cup flaked or slivered almonds

Directions:

Discard the outer leaves of the brussels sprouts. Trim stalk and cut a small cross in the base. If they are large cut in half. Wash well, leaving a little water clinging to them.

Cook bacon and onion in a large pan, medium heat, until bacon is crisp and onion is soft. Drain fat and remove from pan.

Add margarine to pan and when bubbling, add brussels sprouts, cover and cook, shaking the pan often, for 10 minutes or until sprouts are tender. Add almonds, bacon and onion, and toss to combine. Serve.

Variations:

If using regular bacon strips, adjust the nutritional data.
