Yield: 8 x 1/4 cup servings (or about 2 1/2 cups)

A delicate pear topping.

Suggestions:

Serve over low-fat baked goods, fruit salad or low-fat yogurt.

Ingredients:

6 cup pared, cored and cubed pears (any variety)

1/2 cup water

2 Tbsp sugar

1 tsp lemon juice

1 dash of nutmeg


Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat 10 to 15 minutes or until pears are tender. Puree in blender or food processor.

Microwave Directions:

Decrease water to 1/4 cup. Combine all ingredients in 2-quart microwave-safe bowl. Cover and microwave on high (100%) for 6 minutes. Stir pear mixture; rotate dish one-quarter turn and microwave at high for 6 to 8 minutes longer or until tender. Puree in blender or food processor.
