International: Australian: Chili Octopus Stir-Fry

Stir-fried octopus (or squid) in a chili marinade.

Suggestions: You will need to marinate this recipe for at least one hour.

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 10 mins
Extra Time: 1 hrs 45 mins (for pre-cooking rice, if necessary, and for marinating octopus)


    1/2 cup white wine
    2 Tbsp olive oil
    1 lemon, juice and grated zest only
    1 orange, juice and grated zest only
    1 tsp grated ginger
    2 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
    714.29 g prepared baby octopus (or squid)
    3 cup cooked jasmine rice


    Combine wine, oil, lemon and orange juice and rind, ginger, chili sauce, and octopus in a large bowl and toss well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until marinated.

    Heat wok over a high heat. Stir fry octopus in its marinade for 4 to 5 minutes, but do not overcook octopus or it will toughen.

    Stir in rice, allow to heat through and serve.
