I am 62 years old. I was a skinny runt of a child, grew taller in adolescence and grew broader after having children. In my 30s and 40s, I went up and down in weight, but never over 135-ish. Then I was early into menopause, before I was 50, and since then I've added pounds each year until I hit my all-time high of 215 at the end of 2008. Ouch! 215! and I thought 201 was amazingly high! Along with the weight and inertia, I've developed auto-immune illness that makes it hard to keep going some days (and some days, I must go to sleep rather than go forward).
Now I'm trying to change my mindset: I CAN be healthier in the home stretch of life; I do not have to be fat and lethargic; I CAN have the energy to enjoy life. My dearest BFF encouraged me to join CK and I began my journey here in March '08. I lost 10 lbs last year and gained about 15 of it back between Halloween and the New Year. A New Year, a "new" resolution, and a fresh resolve, I'm determined to be 50 lbs lighter by Christmas of 2009, though I will consider myself successful to be maintaining under 200 and decreasing (I find pounds do not go away so quickly as they did when I was 40!)
Bio info: I was born and raised in the South and I now live in the Pacific NW (a little bit of heaven on earth) with my husband of 30+ years. We have 4 grown children (3 sons, one daughter) and 4 grandchildren (all of whom live out of state :( ). I have been a legal secretary and word processor, a medical transcriptionist, and a para-educator in elementary school. I share teaching duties in my church's Sunday school (Episcopalian). I love to read both fiction and philosophy/theology/Christology/spirituology (coined a word there!) I love to be outside, camping, hiking, praising creation. I like to cook and love to eat. I don't like housework. For exercise right now, I attend water aerobics classes four times a week. Life is good.
