I want to look in the mirror and smile instead of sigh. That's already started to happen. Twenty two pounds is a big difference and I can't wait to see how much further I can go. Ultimately, I want to be in the "healthy" weight category of the BMI chart. I'm currently considered "overweight." I started out in the "obese" category.
What is your motivation for losing weight?
I want to feel attractive and I want others to think I'm attractive too.
Already, I've gone from a size 16 to a size 14. That was incredibly motivating. Seeing the change and realizing I can do this is great motivation to keep going.
What is your weight-loss method?
I count and log calories. I pay close attention to portion sizes now. It was a huge shock when I first started the weight loss program to see that I was eating 3-4 times the normal serving size. I've also started exercising a few times a week, mainly walking or treadmill work.
What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
My biggest obstacle is laziness. It takes hard work and commitment to measure out the foods I eat and log the calories. But it works and the results I see from that keep me motivated.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Understand that true weight loss won't happen overnight. Watch your portion sizes. Invest in a food scale. It is a big eye opener to see what is truly considered a serving size. Don't worry if you have an off week. I've had many weeks like that. I just get back on "the wagon" and start again the next week.
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
I feel awesome. Buying a smaller size pair of jeans feels great. I received numerous compliments about my weight loss. I feel prettier.
