Q&A
-
What were your weight-control goals?
-
I am trying to reach 250 by my 40th birthday which will be in February, 2004.
-
What motivated you to lose weight?
-
My first motivation was a cousin having weight loss surgery. I decided to see how much I could lose without surgery. But my most important motivation was and still is, I want to live longer than I was going to be able to do at a weight of over 650 pounds.
-
What was your weight-loss method?
-
In a nut shell, my method is eat less and move more. While that can be pretty hard to do, I made myself do it and am happy with the results. I now keep to 1,000-1,200 calories a day, walk a minimum of two miles every day and drink enough water to make a duck nervous.
-
What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?
-
So far, my only obstacle is myself. Don't get me wrong, I am doing very good so far, but there are days when I think about giving up. I then overcome that thought and move on towards a better me. My family and friends have been great!
-
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
-
Seek support! While trying to lose weight is hard enough, going it alone can be nearly impossible. I will submit a side by side photo of myself that shows the difference from March, 2002 to November, 2002. I think it speaks for itself. I will submit another photo once I reach another major milestone.
-
How do you feel now that you've lost weight?
-
I am feeling a lot better! I do not get tired while doing normal every day things and I can now go to a concert or drag race and know that I will not feel like I need to dial 911 every ten steps. I am still quite heavy though, and am working on making it to a much more "normal" weight. When I get there, and I will, I know I will feel 1000% better!

How have the products or services offered by CalorieKing assisted you in your weigh-loss journey?
-
I am too new to Calorie King to have used many of the available services. I do think however, that the ability to share with others, my goals, achievements and set backs is of great benefit. I use the calorie/BMI tools and from time to time check into the food data bank. I know I will use more of these services as time goes by.
