Kim Cartwright (Kim in PA) lost 47 lbs!
Q&A
-
What were your weight-control goals?
-
I have lost 47 pounds since January 22, 2001. My current weight is 306. My current goal is 299. My future goals are 249, 199, and finally 175.

What motivated you to lose weight?
-
I was chubby as a child and as a teenager.
I am 5'8" and when I left high school I weighed about 200 pounds. Over the past 20 years my weight climbed to 346. That is where I started in January 2001.
I was miserable and depressed. I had no energy. I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and was so embarassed by my weight that I didn't even want to go to the doctor for help.
I knew that I had to get my thinking straight in order to conquer my weight and in early January started a journal - not a food journal, but one for my thoughts about myself.
Every day I wrote in it and made myself be completely honest with myself. I had for so long been pretending that I didn't mind my weight and that people would just have to accept me as I was. Journaling helped me to realize that I was not at all happy with myself and while others already did accept me, I did not accept myself.
I knew that what I wanted more than anything was to lose weight and be healthy.

What was your weight-loss method?
-
Shortly after finding CalorieKing.com in February 2002 I set up my own food plan. I use the CalorieKing.com (CK) online journal faithfully and eat between 1800 and 2000 calories a day, depending on my activity.
I walk three miles five or six times a week. I do three sessions of Tae Bo and three strength training sessions a week and I do a 10 minute stretch every evening.
I saw my doctor on April 29, 2002. My blood pressure is well under control and my cholesterol is 138.
I am a success in my eyes and I have absolutely no doubt that I will reach my goal.
"Failure is not an option", as my new friend Butch would say.
My upcoming challenge is that soon I will be going back to work.....as manager of a convenience store. I have been off for 10 months due to some eye problems and will be ready to go back in 3/4 weeks.

What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?
-
I did start out on a high protein, low carb diet and managed to lose 20 pounds on it. But I got bored with the food and felt really tired and moody.
-
How do you feel now that you've lost weight?
-
I am making my plan of attack now, because I feel better than I have in years and I will not let anything stand in my way.
-
How have the products or services offered by CalorieKing assisted you in your weigh-loss journey?
-
Thanks to the whole staff....this is, by far, the best site of it's kind on the web!
