What were your weight-control goals?
My original goal was to get down to 180 lb, but after I got to 205 lb I consulted with my personal physician. I was concerned about losing strength and muscle thus I decided to go into maintenance at 205 lb.
What motivated you to lose weight?
I had a high sugar reading on a physical exam. Also, I was a senior Brown Belt in a Japanese Martial art and was training for my Black Belt exam. There was no way I was going to pass that exam at 255 lb since the exam was 6 1/2 hours of physical demonstrations and sparring. Also, I was required to do push ups and sit ups all day long in between my demonstrations and techniques.
What was your weight-loss method?
I followed the CalorieKing system of exercising and following a strict 1800 calorie a day diet with two snack of approximately 200 each. I did a tremendous amount of walking and I still do now I am in maintenance. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, and I stay active by walking on my lunch break and skipping the elevator. I take the stairs whenever possible.
What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?
The biggest obstacle for me was breaking the habit of fast food and resisting peer pressure and diet sabotage; both intentional and unintentional.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?

How do you feel now that you've lost weight?
I feel great. I like to stick around to help others, and to make sure that I keep maintaining my new weight.
