View BEARSMOM's food & exercise for this day

I am hoping I'm pregnant. I went off birthcontrol last October.(after being on it for 12 years) That was the second time I went off b/c pills. The first time was October of the previous year. I went back on them because the thought of getting pregnant and gaining weight (on top of my extra 80+ lbs) was just too much. I decided I would lose the weight by my next birthday (October 11), go off the pill again and be preggo at a normal start weight. When my birthday came and the weight was still here, I went off the pill and decided I would not "try" to get pregnant until my weight gets down. Of course, after making the decision to get pregnant, I wanted to do it NOW. So, even though I am not where I want to be weight-wise, I am 35 years old and it is time for me to have another child. This will be the first for my husband and that is very special to me.

I have not had a positive test yet and I need to chill out and stop "bonding" with a baby I don't know if I have yet. So, today I am going to buy another home test. If it is still negative I need to see my doctor. (no period + no preggo = problem)

Well, off to the store I go.....

I had a problem getting pregnant the first time. Took me five years and three doctors until I ended up at a specialist. Told me I have PCOS. Pretty much a side effect of insulin resistance. He told me to start walking and join a support group. He put me on metformin in May of 2002. I started walking that summer, three days a week. I finally joined weight watchers in Sept. and got pregnant 15 lbs. lighter in mid October 2002. Once I knew how to take care of myself it only took about four months and I was preg. ! It just took a little weight loss and "relaxation". The motivation to get pregnant made the exercise and dieting so worth it. Now my second child in '07 was a big suprise. I still had the baby weight on me from the first and decided the same thing you did. I need to lose this weight before I have another. As soon as I started losing, my body started acting right. I was pregnant and had not planned for it. Just a little something for thought. Hope I gave you a little insight. The big thing I came to realize is that I need to take care of MY health first and concentrate on ME. I need to be healthy for my baby and so that I can carry it without complications. I had a Dr. put me on fertility drugs when I was overweight and he could not tell me why I was not getting pregnant. I told him that was enough. I was not doing any more fertility until I knew what was wrong with me. It was selfish of me to jeopordize my babies health because I wanted one so badly. Come to find out PCOS patients have a 40% miscarriage rate in the first trimester. Now I am soooooo happy that I waited and found out what was wrong with me and dropped a few pounds. And hey, that's all it takes... just a few pounds. Not the monumental weight loss, this huge undertaking. Just get the ball rolling. Ya know? Don't let it overwhelm you. I highly recommend the book "Spiritual Childbirth". It motivates you and helps you to relax and focus on what you want in a healthy manner. Good luck and best wishes!!!!!!!
