Good Morning All!!

I'm sorry I didn't get back to all of you personally but THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the encouragement for my half marathon on Saturday!!

My hubby had to work and all of my friends and family were busy so I didn't have any spectators shouting my name.... I knew my CK girls were thinking of me!!

I don't know what I would do if I had someone there... I've never been able to convince anyone to come to a race with me yet :)

.....ok, I am so happy to say that my goal was a sub 2 hr run and my final time was 1:55:32!!! Woo Hoo!! I knew it was in the bag at mile 10 and I almost shed a tear I was so happy! There is no way to descibe the feeling at a distance race, it is so awesome. I love the little kids who come out and slap hands with you and run at you with water. In Alaska when I ran the Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon there were these great kids at like mile 20 handing out popsicles. It was so great.

So of course I had a bad food weekend because races always throw me off as I start out great with food and then I just want to eat everything and justify it. All this doesn't change the fact that you must burn more calories
than you consume.

I got some great advice from a friend who pointed out that the reason that I reach for the sweets on race weekends is because I keep all carbs too low most of the time. One thing I have been trying to do is eat better carbs instead so little carbs. Instead of a protein bar for lunch I've been packing a turkey sandwich, apple and tiny twists pretzels. I am obsessed with knowing more about nutrition and sometimes I think I will never know enough! :) So we'll try easing in some whole grain breads and cereals and maybe get through a 20 miler next Sunday without going crazy berzerk on cookies! :)

I am babysitting my 4 younger brothers (ages 7,12,13,15... my angels) next weekend and I am always so busy with them that I tend to stay on track.

I so need to drop some weight to do my best at the Flying Pig! It would help in so many ways!

So here we go into a new week... The sun is out at the moment but rain is in the forcast. This morning I got to run in shorts (heavenly) but the rest of the week's mornings are low 30's so I'll have to trap myself into long pants for a week or so yet... Please spring, come to Ohio!!

GO REDS!! Opening game today in Cincinatti!!

Thanks again to all my encouragers... Noodle, Rev, Runner4!!! Have a great week and happy training to all!!

370 miles run & 4000 crunches since 1/8/06!!

TTFN!! ~Rebekah
PS UM< I guess I am glad that I only have time to sneak into CK's Blogging world a few minutes when I check in for the day because I have NO idea what this whole war is about.. Religion and name calling?!

Goodness, as they say... ignorance IS bliss.:)
