The day has finally arrived!!
Friday, that is... hee hee!!!
I never lay around and watch TV... seriously EVER. So last night I blew off the street fair plans (it was drizzly anyways) stopped to tan on my way home from work, nuked a Lean Cuisine (honey dijon chicken with slivered green beans... I've been avoiding it 'cause it didn't look so great but it was really good, or I was just ravenous..) grabbed a Fresca, left a note to the MIL on the kitchen table that I was going to bed early and climbed the stairs to our bedroom at 7pm!!
I watched Law & Order CI and Law & Order SVU back to back on USA and then turned to baseball and closed my eyes. I don't know what it is but I grew up listening to the ball games on my brother's radio most nights as I fell asleep and the sound of them lulls me right to sleep. Some people need 'ocean' or 'white' noise... I need MLB.
The Darling Hubby called to check in around 11:15 pm after they had gotten to Cincy, grabbed dinner and were settling into their hotel. I am so glad that he taking this little trip and I hope he really enjoys his time off.
I don't know if I have mentioned my borderline paranoid, schitzophrenic SIL who is the mother of my parent's only grandchild... but she is a constant source of sadness to the 'rents mainly because they don't see Hudson (the grandson) much... anyways, Mom called me this morning and said they got a sweet, short note in the mail saying that she was sorry if she had hurt anyone's feelings and wanted to let them know that she really wanted them to be a part of Hudson's (and his baby brother, due in Nov.) life.... They have set a date to meet halfway between their homes (about an hour trek for both parties) for Sunday afternoon. My one brother says not to trust her and I admit it is probably just the result of a manic episode but I told Mom, why not? Sometimes if you really want to be part of something you play by another's rules. I hope it's not just a brief offer of time with their grandson.. only time will tell.
I saw my brother ( her husband) when I ran the Flying Pig in May in their city only because I showered directly after the race and drove straight to their area of town and called to see if he could grab a bite to eat... He had originally expressed interest in running the marathon with me but could never squeeze in the time to train. I was pretty bummed that he couldn't drive over on race day just to experience it. It would have been great motivation to start training for another year.... oh well, you can't have everything you want in life. I still dream of crossing a finish line next to my brother. He used to be so driven and the look on his face would be priceless. I know it would be so great for him.
Check-in was today and it has taken almost a solid week to get back on track. Not too bad honestly. The reunion was last Saturday and I had started to eat badly on Friday so 4 days of bad eating was righted in equal time. I can handle that.
Cutting my daily 5.5 mile runs back to 3.5 miles and more weights has been great for my times. Now if I can just get those long runs in amongst all other weekend plans... Life would be better. I really like to have at least 25-30 mile weeks when it is purely for fun fitness but when I can't schedule in a long weekend run I try to run longer in the mornings. Which would be fine, say Friday morning if I didn't have to be at work at 7:30am... This weekend job gets one more weekend of my time, I have to tell her I'm done tomorrow!!
This was a long entry for me.... sorry if I rambled too much. So exercise rundown for today...
