Thursday, Jan 4 2007 - Holidays take on a different feeling....
View BECKAMARIE's food & exercise for this day
....When you get older. You start to see the sadness and depression around you more than the happiness and cheer...

It doesn't mean that I am depressed but I am saddened when I see my friends and family suffering.
My SIL is still in the hospital after her incident on Christmas Day and then our phone rang at 4am this morning. Good friends lost their son last night in a tragic accident. He was in his early twenties and a really sweet kid who started to hang with the wrong crowd the last year or two of high school. He had been battling some addictions and depression and I think he was just so sad as of late.
I tried to call the house earlier but no answer. I am really feeling that Matt & I should go over after work anyways. They don't have any real close friends or family in town. Please remember them in your prayers. This all feels so unbelievably overwhelming.
I got a little surprise this morning when I signed on CK... Trishie's back! So good to see her smiling face and it sounds like they are doing great!!
It is again unseasonably warm this week and they keep extending the warm weather.

Much to the chagrin of the 3 snow ski lodges in central Ohio... They just can't keep the snow around, even if they make it. 50 today and 50 tomorrow although rain all day tomorrow. The morning lows are barely under 50! That's just crazy talk!
I haven't gotten back into the running schedule yet. I am planning to maybe run 6 or 8 miles on Sun with Katie and she and I ran 5 last Sunday but that is hardly a schedule...
I did try on the dress I got at Macy's for $7.00 a couple weeks ago! I thought it would fit and it does just fine. I was hoping it would so I wouldn't have to get anything for the wedding coming up. My aunt also said that she had room for us to stay so that relieves tons of money stress on my behalf. Thank you!
Matty and I took the Christmas tree down last night. Matt was a huge help! He did most of the work on the tree and I just packed up odds and ends on tables and such. It took a couple hours but we got everything put away and then talked about changing the upstairs for the baby... It's an older home and the ceilings and walls are showing age. The drywall really needs re-taped and mudded and sanded. He wants to do it right so hopefully we can start on that soon. It will be so much nicer with a lighter carpet and lighter walls. Oooh.. baby stuff everywhere!! Can't wait!
I have a mall walking date with Emily at noon. We always talk a mile a minute and never seem to get it all in but it's a great way to visit and get some minimal exercise.
Better go! Hugs to all!

Sorry to hear about your friend's son and your SIL. I went through some tough times years ago and at the time I was reminded of an old church hymn called "He Lives" ... Because He lives I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone, Because I know He holds the future, my life is worth the living just because He lives. It was good inspiration for me when all I saw around me was sadness. BTW, I missed the news of your pregnancy. I had to go back in your blogs and catch-up. Congrats
! Kids are awesome! Peace.

Enjoy your walk. You are such a thoughtful person I know your friends who are in great pain will appreciate that visit. And yes as a person gets older they go through more life and it can make a person sad and introspective. All we as friends can say is "I love you."

(on a side note though, I agree, this Ohio weather is weird. I'm waiting for a blizzard - it'll probably come in April)

I'm sorry about your SIL and your friends' son. I will pray for them. Children are so wonderful because they are an affirmation of life and positivity and love. My children are such a comfort to me and your child will be to you and Matty too.

So sorry to hear about your friend. I will absolutely be praying. It is so tough to hear about that stuff and know that you can't FIX it! I know what you mean about the holidays. I continue to hope they find the right thing for your sil so your bro and kids can have a healthy momma and wife. Hugs B. You have a heart of gold and I know going to visit your friends would mean so much to them now.
