View BECKAMARIE's food & exercise for this day

Today is off to a rotten start… well I take that back. It started pretty great and then went downhill. Matthew slept from 10:00 last night till almost 4:00 this morning so that was great! Then I got ready for work in plenty of time and actually made it on the road 15 minutes early… still going well… Then I got back on the road to work and there were 2 major traffic accidents on my way to work and despite having nearly 45 extra minutes in my morning I was 15 min. late to work.

This was all on top of getting an email from the boss yesterday for taking too long of lunches (sent to everyone) but I had gone with Kim and Ben that day and we walked to a little café and we were late getting back so I felt really bad. Kim and Ben are awesome co-workers though who don’t play games behind people’s backs and really care about their relationship with our boss so the 3 of us went into the bosses’ cubicle together to apologize and assure her that we would watch the clock more responsibly. I don’t know, I just really value communication in all areas of my life and having a few co-workers (out of many) who feel the same is reassuring.

Of course it has been a heck of a long week and I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that it is Friday. We are going to a cook-out at Al & Tina’s tonight with friends and I am really looking forward to it. It is always a nice time at their home and Al is making ribs and goose breast. He is an avid waterfowl hunter and he is always eager to prepare his wild game for friends and he does a great job of it. Matt works for him and I used to. It’s funny, our work relationship has had some bumps but as a friend and ‘father’ type, he is a great guy in so many ways. Matt has a great ability to keep ‘work’ separate from ‘friendships’. He could fire a friend who wasn’t doing his job and then go to dinner with him. It sure makes life easier in a world where most of our friends work with him in some way. Landscapers are a nomadic community. :)

I went to the gym last night and it was really great. I just worked on some machines with a trainer (one of those ‘free’ intro sessions when you join) but it felt great to be back into it. They have childcare when Matthew is 3 mo. old… in 3 weeks. Matt and I want to try to go after work 3 nights a week together. That would be awesome! Maybe in a month or so when I know the baby will sleep at a certain time I can start squeezing in some short, pre-work runs.

I better go… Hugs, R

WTG on the gym and I bet your boss really appreciated that you went directly to her and told her it wouldn't happen again. (I bet she wasn't talking about you 3). I hope you have fun at the cookout tonight!
