Guess Who????

Yeah so um today is potluck day at work. I brought pasta salad that I can eat and there is plenty of fruit so I can have some of that. I haven’t had any sweets in 13 days and Ben made his delicious oatmeal cookies and he left me my own personal baggie of 6 on my desk because he knows I love them. I think I will wait and see if I want to have ONE of them with a cup of coffee later. Other than that I am not having any of the desserts that are over there at all.

I actually hate potluck day for this very reason. All this darn food around drives me crazy sometimes… and did I mention I am right in the midst of ‘that time’?? ARGH!!

On a lighter note, I made a yummy squash casserole last night and Matt made pork chops. We are really making an effort to make dinner at home every night and eat together when we can so this sometimes shoves dinner time later and later. I absolutely hate eating late but I think that I have learned that eating a little bit late is better than skipping dinner altogether so I guess my body will just have to adjust. I have a feeling that with kids (yes dear, I said KIDS) and evening activities in the future I will get a lot of late dinners so there is no avoiding it.

Matt brought quite a bit down from the closet last night so MIL could go through it. A lot of it is older books that we need to pass on. Hopefully we can get to some more stuff tonight. She is leaving tomorrow morning sometime so we will have to load all the heavy stuff tonight. She does kind of crazy things for her son and his daughters down there. It is the source of a lot of tension at our house. I won’t go all into it but she is actually cooking a large crock pot of beef barbeque to take to one of her granddaughters who asked for it and making extra batches of cookies because she doesn’t want their boyfriends to eat the cookies that the girls really like. It's a 6 hour trip. And to sum it all up, this is a one-way relationship. There's a lot of 'I wish we could see you' and 'I miss you' and 'You should come stay with us sometime', but never any effort on their part. She only knows what they tell her is going on and she sees all of our dirty laundry, so to speak, so I think she feels like he is a better son for some crazy reason... It's silly. That being said, I wouldn’t trade her for the world. I am so grateful that Matty has her to help him grow up to be a nice boy like his Dad.

Matty is crawling everywhere. It is a little disarming though. You never know what he will get into now when left unattended. Last night when we were making dinner he started into the kitchen and when Matt got down and put his hands out he crawled right up to Daddy. So sweet. This Saturday when I have the marathon training group run Matty is going on a truck ride maybe to see people that Daddy works with. A little father/son time.

My brother’s fiancée’s wedding shower is this weekend. I am looking forward to it. It will be fun.

Potluck Update: I had a spoon of the pasta salad that I brought, a spoon of taco salad that someone else brought (with ground turkey!) and a spoon of strawberries/bananas/blueberries. Yay! I beat the potluck demons and I made it back to my seat in one piece!

I better get back to work… I’ve been here for 2 hours and haven’t gotten much started.
