View BRIENMALONE's food & exercise for this day
I decided to rewrite this blog entry because the original was a bit whiny
I've had bronchitis for a few days now - doctor put me on antibiotics and said "no cardio". I'm hoping that once the antibiotics are done, I'll be ready to get back to the gym.
My motiviation is still high, so I'm not worried about being derailed.
While I'm sick, however, I have decided to move my daily intake up to maintenance level. My Katch-McArdle BMR+TDEE (Basal Metabolic Rate + Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is 2497, but I recently bought a polar F55 heart monitor that measures calorie expenditure based on my height/weight...etc. And it ticked up to about 3200 when I wore it for 24 hrs on a non-cardio day. If I just trust my hunger/energy level, I tend to consume about 2800-2900 calories.
Looking back at my foods today, there are a couple of things that I want to point out. I've got "Mother's" circus cookies on the board again today. I've had "cheat foods" several times this week... but I've been very conscious about my macronutrient ratios and calorie intake - so it has been "okay" (not GREAT... but okay)
Today, I poured myself two servings of "circus animal" cookies... but something unusual happened when I ate them. I munched through one serving, but right after I started on the second, I felt sick. Right there, I put the cookies down and left them alone! My usual mode would have been to power through the sick and eat the whole thing! I love this new willpower.
I also put McDonalds on the board again today
but it was the honey mustard snack wraps with grilled chicken. My wife, son and I are all sick no one feels like preparing food right now so all things considered, that was a fairly good protein snack. (In the future, Ill have to get them without sauce its kind of gross anyway)
Still
I dont like that Im eating manufactured foods. Im going to try to stick to natural foods tomorrow. (I may need to buy some chicken breasts so I can build some more meat into my lunches
right now its just protein pasta and sauce!)

Hi Brien,
:rock1:
I was wondering about the polar f55 monitor that you spoke of,what is that and where do you find them? I just graduated from college myself and I am starting to concentrate on myself now. Between the stress of school and the every day stresses of family and finances, I gained even more through school.I was just curious as to what that monitor was and how you determine your BMR?
Thanks,
Jenn
