Thursday, Jan 3 2008 - Pants in a Twist!? *laugh*

View BRIENMALONE's food & exercise for this day

I had the funniest problem today. My closet is full of slacks sized 40 and 42. I grabbed a pair of 42s today, threw on my shirt and tie and ran out the door. The company I work for grades millions of dollars in diamonds every day, so I have to use an ID card just to get into the parking lot. The card is in my wallet; and what I usually do is wait until I approach the gate in my car, fish my wallet out and wave it at the sensor to open the gate.

My size 42 pants are so loose that the pocket material twisted around the wallet, making it impossible for me to pull it out of my pocket without stepping out of my car! *LAUGH* I had to wave the guard down to open the gate for me... a little embarrassing, but in a good way.

Considering the fact that I've been unable to do cardio thanks to bronchitis (flu), I'm pretty excited that my clothes are still loose!

So far, foods are good today. I'm due to have some soup, tuna and potatoes for lunch in a bit... then more fruit and cottage cheese this afternoon. Man... it is so hard to eat so much! I mean - what I'm describing is my normal intake to maintain a 30% calorie deficit... but today is a high calorie day (I'm cycling - 3 days low 1 day at maintenance level to keep my body out of starvation mode). This is my maintenance day, so I actually have to figure out how to stuff 500-700 MORE calories in my gob.

Yeesh!

What they say is true: When you eat whole foods, you really have a hard time eating "enough" because you're so full all the time.

7:56pm Follow-up

Okay... As I was headed out to my car at the end of a VERY long day, I broke into a run. I think my body is telling me that it is time to go back to the gym. Tomorrow morning it is! WAHOO!

I also had another revelation... I don't know where I got the idea that my break-even intake was 2700-2800 calories... its just under 2500 according to the Katch McArdle formula. It probably came from watching my Polar F55 count up into the 3000s for my daily burn totals. I don't think I can count on that watch for accurate numbers.... Or maybe I need to set it up again. Hm. I think I'll try that.

Oh - and I also found out that I haven't been going 30% under... I've been at 20%... With the shallow weight loss curve and the 200 extra calories on the high days, its no wonder my weight has been stalled out at about 243 for two weeks now.

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to aim for 1750 net, which is my true 30% under, and only hit 2500 net on my high days.
