Thursday, Feb 7 2008 - Sleeping and Slipping
View BRIENMALONE's food & exercise for this day
What is going on with my sleep lately? The past few nights I have been waking up at 2:30am. It doesn't matter if I get up or if I lie in bed, but I stay awake until 4:30 or 5am then crash until 7:15 or 7:30am!
When it happened on Tuesday night, it didn't matter much because Wed was a high calorie day, but I had to get to the gym this morning to make my minimum 3 days of cardio this week. I'm going to try to move things around so I can work out for an hour this evening (if I can).
Fewer Workouts = More Cravings
This is really interesting... coming from a 7 day workout week into a 1 or 2 day workout week, I've noticed that my craving levels have increased. I've been eating (measured amounts) of things like peanut butter filled pretzels.
Focus
I think I have burned myself out on the Tom Venuto book(s). One of the triggers that reignited my fitness kick is emersing myself in fitness culture. (As I say over and over, the trick is to find something that interests you about the process of fitnessListening to his ebooks over and over again kept me focused by keeping the information fresh in my mind. I have been playing his ebooks on my mp3 player as always; but lately, I'm ignoring what I hear in favor of watching the TV above the cardio equipment.
Body Sculpting Bible
There is another book that I have in my library called "The Body Scuplting Bible for Men" by James Villepigue and Hugo Rivera (there is one for women, too.) According to Amazon, it has been revised recently - and they added veteran natural bodybuilder Clark Bartram and MuscleMag publisher Robert Kennedy to the author list.
It has been a while since I read their book, but from what I remember, James and Hugo both have fantastic diet and training tips. I'll have to dig it out again.
