A Solid Six?
I sleep 7 1/2 hours a night, but never all at once. In fact, I haven't slept more than 6 hours straight in years. I don't know if I have a sleep scheudle hiccup that makes me sleep in shifts or if I only need 6 hours of sleep per night. When I was younger, I'd get 7 1/4 hours of sleep, but after I left home - I slept whenever and wherever I could. When I met my wife, I was sleeping 6 hours per night during the week but I think I was napping a lot on the weekends.
Even though I was completely exhausted yesterday, I slept for exactly six hours before waking up. After lying in bed for an hour I was able to get back to sleep for an hour and a half. The part that I don't understand is how I could be completely awake at 4:30am then groggy and listless at 7:15am after getting more sleep!
Just for grins, I'll try getting up at 4:30 to start my day. (This is probably a bad week for experimentation as my systems analysis class project is due this coming Monday... but I'm losing too much time productive to being awake in the middle of the night!)
Low-Sodium Cottage Cheese
I really wish I could find some low sodium fat-free cottage cheese. I've been making due with the store brand stuff (which actually has less salt than the name brands!), but now that I'm eating more and more whole foods, the salty taste of the cottage cheese is really getting to me. Unfortunately, I don't think I have many options as far as cottage cheese goes.
-- [Updated] --
I found two or three dairy brands that carry low sodium cottage cheese:
West coast: Lucerne 1% fat low-sodium at 50mg per 1/2 cup (Vons/Safeway)
East coast: Friendship Dairy 1% low-sodium cottage cheese
???: Axelrod (found on Amazon?)
The thing is, everyone complains about the taste being horrendous even when mixed with other things. From my point of view, I like being able to "Salt to Taste". Even if I mix in half of the regular stuff, that is still significatly less sodium!

I don't know if this is good or bad... but I am in a serious brain fog. I know this is a sign of calorie deficit, but I wonder if it is happening because I'm "too deep" or "just deep enough". (I feel pretty "drained" too!)
Deficit Periods
My original plan included 3 low calorie days followed by 1 maintenance level day. I'm going to adjust this plan a bit. Since work is fairly routine, I can eat my planned foods all day without and keep my intake consistent. The weekends are a little more free-form, so I'll take the pressure off a bit by making Saturday and Sunday high calorie days. That way I won't be in a low-calorie funk during family time on the weekends.
The extra fuel should also help me with schoolwork. I can usually knock out an A quality paper in a few hours on the weekend, but if I'm in a brain fog like the one I have right now... You can triple that time. Ugh. It's like someone poured glue on my gears! Heck, I had to edit this post at least three times for clarity *laugh*

I used to be a big Xbox 360 gamer (Ghost Recon, etc.). But I had to sell the thing on ebay, b/c it was effecting my sleep. I read research on how sleep deprivation has been linked to obesity. I realized that in order to get healthy, I would have to get to bed much earlier. Now I have to close the lid on my MacBook and go to bed. I have to limit my intake of rss feeds b/c I could spend a whole night reading Mac news and tips, Getting Things Done hacks, and listening to podcasts. I have had to be really ruthless about getting rid of distractions so that I get adequate rest so I can eat healthy.
