Don’t Fuel the Funk
I had a good day today... Lots of good productive time at work... It's a shame I spent so much of the day in the dumps! Well, fortunately, when I know where a feeling is coming from (e.g. my foods, or lack of exercise), then I stop myself from trying to find reasons in life for the way I feel. When you're feeling down and you don't know why, as soon as you start trying to find reasons you're fueling depression.

So! The best thing to do is to start mentally listing the good things that have happened recently.

I had a great night's sleep last night
My baggy 38s are starting to get loose :thumbu2:
I didn't gain any weight after my high calorie weekend
My wife told me that my face looked leaner :thumbu2:
My son wanted to sit in my lap and play trucks
At the doctor's office, I was 15 lbs lighter than the last time
My blood pressure is normal :thumbu2::thumbu2:

There! That’s a pretty good list. I'm always amazed at how well that works. We are what we think about most of the time... If I had made a list of the things that 'have me down', I would have dwelt on them and fueled the funk.

”Everything You Need to Know About Fat Loss…”
Do you remember the book I mentioned a few posts ago - the one with the author who was in need of a serious editor? Well, it turns out the book really does have some good information. The section titled “Types of Calories” had a lengthy discussion about insulin and glucagon (insulin promotes energy storage while glucagon liberates energy.) The body uses these two substances to maintain equilibrium between 70 and 110 mg of sugar per 100 mL of blood.
I’ll have to get into the details later… I’m suddenly very sleepy [10:45pm]

I think it is great that you got out of your funk Mr.!!!! I keep the same mentality every day. One of my favorite songs is actually a hymn. It is called "Count Your Blessings". I don't go a day without counting my blessings. That song is permanently etched in my memory. I count my blessings every day to remind me to not sweat the small stuff, and to choose my battles.
I will have to check out that book... my blood sugar is the main drive for me to lose weight. I am not diabetic, but hypoglycemic. My sugar bottoms out because I am insulin resistant and that has led to the hypoglycemia. I have dropped to coma level lows with my blood sugar before. My Dr. told me that if I continue on this track - my sugar will spike the other way before too long. It also took us five years to have a baby, once I found out that I was insulin resistant and had PCOS, I started exercising and eating low/ no sugar and no white starches. Poof, I was preg. in five months. Wow. So, ya I am very familiar with insulin role in the body and how to "maintain". I have researched myself into a dork status. I am a diet geek. Now if I would just follow my own advice!!!!!!!!!!
