Wednesday, Feb 27 2008 - Sushi Part II
View BRIENMALONE's food & exercise for this day
My wife and I had another lunch date! It is so funny seeing her in the middle of the day. She's so energized! *laugh* By the end of the day, we see each other for the first time over dinner with heads in hands while our 2 year old goes on a spazpage (spaz/rampage).
Sushi Overboard!
We decided to have sushi again and once again, I didn't keep track of what I ate. I wasn't filled to bursting, but I definitely didn't "go light" on the portions. The fish is fantastic, but white rice is practically straight glucose. It's a shame that long grain brown rice isn't starchy enough to stick together... that would be much healthier! Oh well, at least the lean meat slows absorption.
Hey - now that's pretty cool! I estimated 1200 calories in my head for what I ate... when I put down what I remembered, it came out to 1160.
Morning Workout - Break-In Routine: Legs
I have been extremely lazy for the past few days. I can't tell you the last time I did cardio (probably the same day as my upper body last week). I piddled away my morning on the computer again... My wife gave me a hard time about it, too - deservedly so.
Even though it was really late (7:35am) I did my leg workout. My routines are still those short modified compound supersets that I talk about
. 2 sets each with 90 seconds of rest in between.
Quads/Hamstrings, Calves/Shoulders
Dumbbell is abbreviated DB
DB Squats 15-20 Reps, 90 secs (rest)
Lunges 15-20 Reps, 90 secs
Ballet Squats 15-20 Reps, 90 secs
Stiff Legged Dead-lifts 15-20 Reps, 90 secs
DB Calf Raise (one leg) 8-12 Reps (per leg), 90 secs
DB Shoulder Press 15-20 Reps, 90 secs
DB Calf Raise (two legs) 15-20 Reps, 90 secs
Bent Over Lat Raises 15-20 Reps, 90 secs
This routine usually takes me about half an hour, but with time limited, I burned through this workout in under 20 minutes.
Why Warming Up and Water are Important
I didnt really warm up before jumping into my squats. I figured that without weight, the squats would be my warm up. In reality, squats are a pretty intensive exercise even without weights. I had to stop twice because I was light-headed. In fact, several times during my quick workout, my vision dimmed a bit like I was on my way to passing out..
By the time I was done, I climbed two flights of stairs to the shower. Within a minute or two I was on my hands and knees under the spray trying not to throw up and/or pass out.
My two big mistakes: 1) I didnt warm up. (duh); and 2) I fueled up earlier, but didnt drink any water.
Footnote
You know... CK really needs a training journal. I've been itching to build my own fitness blogging / diet & exercise tracking site... that lack of functionality on CK might just be the nudge I need.

:eyebrows: Ha! Ha!
:laugh5: Ya, I did the clomid thing and took myself off of it. My doctor could not diagnose me with what was wrong, so I did not think it was fair to try and get preg. and risk my health and/ or the babies if it was something that could. Come to find out PCOS patients have a 40% miscarriage rate in the first trimester. Glad I waited. Three Dr.'s later and at a Reproductive Endocrinologist I had my diagnoses. Since I had already somewhat attempted Clomid they offered IVF next or injections. I declined. I don't want multiples. My luck I would have the sextuplets. I wanted to be able to enjoy my children, not run an army.
:sad3: I declined it all and started treating my insulin and pcos with metformin. It worked and five months later Daisy Ann was in production!!!!!
:$ ! No more for us!!!!!!!!!! So I am ready to be skinny again! No more "interupptions" in my diet routine!!!
