Snacking?

Thursday, February 14th 2008

Short blog today. Yesterday was full of modified compound supersets designed to "break in" my chest/back and biceps/triceps. I overslept this morning and missed day 2 of my workout. Today should have been Quads/Hams and Calves/Shoulders. S'okay. I'll get 'em tomorrow.

REI
My wife lost her favorite jacket from REI yesterday. I'm going to try to swing by and buy a new one for her as a valentine's day present. (We sort of celebrated Valentine's early with our date, so this is a '...

Picture Time - Week 9
Here is evidence of the "stall" I've been in for the past few weeks. I'm a little bummed by this shot because I had a great picture taken earlier with a different camera... but I want to be faithful to the process. My weight reflects the lack of change in the 5 and 9 week photos.

Holy smokes! The latest tweak to my Polar F55 did the trick. The watch now calculates calories burned based on my lean weight and it is registering a much more conservative number for calories burned.

Under/Over
I weigh 235 lbs right now, but I would be 183 at 4% bodyfat - so I told my watch that I'm 183. Now my 45 minute workout reports 500 calories burned instead of 650-700. 500 calories is probably an underestimate for the amount of work I'm doing, but I'd rather underguess than ove...

The Journey, Not The Destination

Sunday, February 10th 2008

In my experience, there are "journey" people and there are "destination" people. Journey people are motivated, even invigorated by the process of doing something. Destination people are motivated by the goal and will do everything it takes to get there.

Boat Life
This may sound funny, but I came up with this idea while living around boaters. I lived on a sailboat in the Oceanside harbor (California) for about 5 years, and found that sailboat sailors were about the j...
