Cardio vs Weight Training
Much to my amazement I remained at the same weight this week - 231.5. I'm amazed because according to my charts I was 2183 calories OVER BUDGET!
Here is my chart for last week. The red line shows my calorie goals.
Yeah - oops. A big part of the difficulty came from failing to do cardio. When I do cardio, I can eat 2500 calories a day. That is a LOT of food. Without the cardio, I've got to reduce calories drastically to hit my 1850 net for the day.
My doctor said it was okay for me to start weight training after Feb 9, so I started working on a break-in routine to get my body used to working out again. Even though most of the exercises I've been doing are isometric, they are really wearing me out!
Looking back over my charts, on the weeks where I was very regular with my cardio, I nailed my calorie targets. Without it, I found myself snacking a lot.
The really amazing thing about maintaining my weight this week is how "little" exercise I did compared to the 600+ calorie cardio burns. With three weight training days (two 30 minute intense workouts and one quick abs workout) I was able to go way off budget and still maintain my weight.
If I can get myself together to do weight training and cardio, I should start seeing some real magic! It is killing me that I haven't broken 230 yet - I'm so close that I could -easily- do that by next week!
